Hi guys,

Got a user with an HP EliteBook 850 G1 laptop. Sometimes when he goes to remove the laptop from its docking station while still running, it'll BSOD. Quick google search didn't turn up anything specific.

His laptop appears to have been pre-configured for Kernel dump files and I grabbed a copy, but even zipped it's over 200 MB in size, so... not sure the best way to share (forum limit of 8MB)? I do not have the tools (or more importantly, the expertise) for reading dump files to find the cause myself.
^^ Old data.
minidump file attached.

Hello,

Tell him to run the program in the BSOD Posting Instructions, it will help us try to diagnose the problem.

As for the file size... what exactly are the files in the .zip you mentioned? Could you give us the name and extension?

Best of luck,

PeregrineX

Apologies, but please tell me the file(s)/information one would need to diagnose and I will manually retrieve.

According to his registry settings (we're over 60 miles apart), his system is set to create Kernel dump files. However, the initial file is over 600 MB (almost 700), but even zipping it only brings it down to roughly 200.

At the minimum, you will need to give us his minidump files. These are located at the directory "C:\Windows\Minidump\".

Attach those files to a new reply, and we'll go from there.

Apologies, but he's been out of the office these past couple of days. I'll try to catch up with him next week to make sure his system creates minidumps (according to his registry when I checked last, it's creating kernel dumps), then I'll have to wait until it BSODs again (to my understanding, it isn't every time).

Update: Altered his settings to create minidumps. Now I just gotta wait for it to BSOD again....
