Hi All,

I have some Samsung security cameras that use ActiveX and IE10 and they all work fine. BUT I am concerned about msofts announcement to start blocking older ActiveX components.

So, I set up VMWare Player and installed my old copy of XP. Yes, I know the risks, but it is the only old OS I own and the PC has long ago gone to scrap.

When I run IE-8 on XP, the camera ActiveX loads and displays everything correctly except the camera view. The Camera number is there, all the set up pages are there, the time is ticking over but it is just a black screen for the video feed.

Anyone have thoughts and suggestion on getting this going before msoft pulls the plug on IE10 ActiveX versions?

Samsung has been no help.

Thanks

You can still run the control even if its outdated.

You will just get a warning when you launch it. That is all. Microsoft will not be blocking preventing you from using the old version, its just a notice. You can still ignore it and allow it.

Hi there.

Sometimes you need to attach the camera hardware to the VM. Try and see in the settings once the VM is up and running if the camera is still attached to the HOST.
