I've uninstalled lots of programs, mainly Hewlett Packard stuff. It's freed up a lot of disc space, and i think my computer runs a little better too. I still have some stuff worth removing, but need help deciding what is safe to remove? I'm only focused on the apps installed in 2010..

1. i use the HP Wireless Assistant and IDT Audio. HP Quick Launch Buttons & HP Setup seem like they might be important:

2. have similar Microsoft Visual updates..

3. of the tasks highlighted in yellow, does anyone know what these are? a few of them look important, but i have no idea what they do..

I cannot speak for the HP stuff mate but both my Toshibas - notorious for the bloat I have installed SDD's in and then an OEM and there has been no problems at all.
You can of course do this but it means backing up all of the data and programs first.
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/219487-clean-reinstall-factory-oem-windows-7-a.html#post1839164 this will rid you of all the bloat and you don't have to buy an OEM:)
There are some things that Toshiba will re download usually amongst the Windows updates and are stuff that I don't think apart from being some sort of drivers for the machines otherwise everything is fine.

Now like I said I don't know about HP stuff and the best thing you can do is just Google what any particular application you are considering throwing overboard and find out what they are for.

The Visual C++ Redistributables provide support for applications you likely have installed. Leave them alone.

The processes csrss.exe, dwm.exe, rundll32.exe, taskeng.exe, taskhost.exe, and winlogon.exe are system processes. The description and account name is missing for some of these because you are using a non elevated account (default) that does not have permissions to access this information.

I don't have time to look up the other processes.

CSRSS basically is part of running all cod in Windows other than the kernel and drivers. It is part of Windows so you don't have to worry about it.
DWM gives you the effects of Aero for your Windows, which is basically the transparency effect part of Windows 7.
HpqToaster is a HP software process, it can be associated with many different HP software.
NVVSVC and NVXDSYNC is part of the Nvidia Graphics.
QLBCtrl is another HP process that runs Quick Launch Buttons.
Rundll32 is a Windows process that launches the functions of DLLs.
Taskeng is for running scheduled tasks such as opening software on startup.
Taskhost is a Windows process that is the host for all DLL based services running.
Winlogon is responsible for loading your profile when loging on to Windows and locking your computer automatically if set to.

The only thing that is not essential is HpqToaster and QLBCtrl unless you use the software associated with it.
Edit: Looks like LMiller already said what I said.

Thanks guys for the help. I'm not really interested in reinstalling Windows to remove the bloat, I've manually done most of it already, and Windows has run pretty ok even with the bloat installed..

I just have a few programs left to uninstall and was hoping you guys might have an opinion on any one of the 2010 picks. I want to uninstall the drivers in the pic i attached (aside from the Intel one), but am not sure if i should. I remember updating the Adobe AIR and Flash in the past, but can't remember if they installed correctly. I don't use Windows Media Player so i assume i no longer need WM Encoder 9.

I see pics for Installed Programs and Task Manager running processes, not drivers
Only you know what you have already uninstalled.
Can you post back with exactly what you are still asking about uninstalling ?

You should look at msconfig / startup and see what you have.
Maybe just unchecking unneeded programs to "auto-start" will be best.

Post a screen print of your msconfig / startup.

  • Realtek Ethernet Controller Driver For Windows Vista and Later

others:
  • Adobe AIR
  • Adobe Reader 9.1 MUI
  • Adobe Flash Player 10 ActiveX
  • Windows Media Encoder 9 Series

how do i check 'msconfig / startup'? what does that do?

You should keep the Media Controller Driver(for SD cards and other memory cards) and the Ethernet driver in case you ever need to use it. I have no idea what the ENE CIR does though.
Adobe Flash Player should only be kept if you really need it because it is often has security holes used in malware attacks. Adobe AIR should only be kept if needed too. I also don't know what the Windows Media Encoder does, but it is not malware because it is on the Microsoft website and most likely made by them.
To go to MSConfig, follow the example section in the following tutorial: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/238697-control-panel-add-remove-system-configuration-msconfig.html (Ignore the name as you only have to follow the example section to get to MSConfig)
Take a screenshot of the startup tab so we can see what can be removed from startup.

Here are steps to http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/219576-clean-up-factory-bloatware.html.

You don't need any of the HP bloatware, especially the Wireless service which adds to the boot time and like all bloatware duplicates a much better version built into Win7.

Easiest is to turn it all off in msconfig>Startup and >Services after Hiding all MS Services. You only need your AV, sync, gadgets if you use them. Everything else is freeloading on your system mostly to spy on you and not needed at all to start with Windows unless you absolutely can't wait to open it yourself.

Even cleaning it all up you'll still have a compromised OS which will never run as good as after doing a http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/219487-clean-reinstall-factory-oem-windows-7-a.html#post1839164

Looking back at your OP screen prints, the ADOBE programs were installed in 2010.
Those are way out of date, and Adobe is a known "security concern".

I don't use Adobe Air or Adobe Reader.
Adobe Reader is used to view PDF files.
I use Nitro PDF, Foxit Reader, or Browser for PDFs.

How so?

I've tried to Clean Up Factory Bloatware about as many times as I've done a http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/219487-clean-reinstall-factory-oem-windows-7-a.html#post1839164 and the reinstall always runs better, possibly because of all the other Best Practices and Optimizations that are included in the tutorial.

Over a million users have done the http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/219487-clean-reinstall-factory-oem-windows-7-a.html#post1839164 without a single complaint. It compiles everything we've learned works best in tens of thousands of installs we've helped with here directly, and avoids the problems we've seen in many more thousands of help cases.
