Well for my mother's sake, I hope it does continue to work. She bought her first computer months ago and i wanted to surprise her with Win7 so i did said action and she at first didn't like that i erased everything on her computer without her permission but very quickly grew to love it given its functionality and overall design. Of course being 60 and using a computer for the first time in her life, she won't be too thrilled to hear that i'll have to do it again after all the things she and i have added. Luckily i have a free copy of both the x32 and x64 coming via the party package from MS, but i believe only one key will be available, so you think i can use the key for both?

Still makes no sense why they would wanna push a new OS knowin it will prolly end up in a family household, many containing multiple users not to mention multiple PC's within the household. That $300 isn't a fair price for those just wanting to share with family per PC and can't afford it. Why not a 5 PC limit. wouldn't that be most fair? I think so at least, but i guess if you're money hungry, then its acceptable.

That brings it down to fifty bucks per.

I'm not sure of the pricing or exact details, as am not in US market, but Microsoft have offered a family pack for windows 7 in the US,

Well then you will be delighted to know that Microsoft is offering a Family Pack for $150...which provides 3 copies of 7 Home Premium for $150.

As far as fairness is concerned....it's Microsoft we are talking about and they are in the software business to make money.

And just because a new Microsoft OS is coming out, it doesn't necessarily mean that those running XP or Vista "have" to upgrade to it. I'm typing away on my wife's Vista laptop right now and I have absolutely no plans whatsoever to upgrade this machine. It runs fine, it comes with an HP system restore which gets me back to day 1, and Microsoft is still supporting it with updates and such. Absolutely no reason to spend money on Windows 7 for this machine....they are mostly features that my wife would not really benefit from as she uses this system mostly for web surfing and email.
