Disable calculator in Windows 7 - Remove, Disable, Delete, Ditch.

Hi does anyone have an idea how to disable or remove the Windows 7 calculator. I want to disable this feature due to cheaters using the calculator whilst doing maths homework? Bloody desperate here. !!!!!!!!!!!

I find it ridiculous its not that easy to do . - Ijust want to Ditch the Calculator.

It's a pointless objective

A user could just use any spreadsheet application or online calculator so I don't get why you think that this will work.

Yes it can be done either via Group Policy or via a registry edit.

If the stuudents are doing maths homework, how can you control what PC they are using?

Even Google and Bing can do your maths so disabling Calculator is of no use.

I have a HP G62 Laptop and i have young children ages 9 - 12 who use this and use the Mymaths website for study. On the HP G62 laptop i have on the keyboard there are 5 hot keys right beside your Tab, caps and ctrl. they open a series of applications from emails to web and calculator.

In the past the button has gone unnoticed , but now they have been accessing the calculator and i want to ensure its not easily used - so id like to remove , deactivate the calculator.

I know it can be done via Google , Msn, etc but they ain't that savvy yet , Theres even a calculator within the MyMaths which again is only activated if you get a fail score.

It's trivial to do, just delete the calculator executable file and you're done. Or remove the shortcut if you want.
It's located in c:\windows\system32\calc.exe

Backup to somewhere else if you want to restore it afterwards.

Alejandro85 provides a decent solution. If you want something more complicated use DisAllow Run (for other executables) as per the tutorial here:

What's wrong with using a pen and paper to teach them?

They will find a way to access a calculator if left unsupervised even if they have to ask friends how to get around your restrictions.

Believe me, they will be very shortly after you disable the calculator (assuming they aren't already). Direct supervision and training in basic values, such as honesty, are the only viable options you have.
