Thermaltake Level 10 - New "Designer" Case

Looks like that BMW concept case is finally coming to the retail market thanks to Thermaltake!

I personally love it, I'll be getting it as my next case most likely, as long as it can accommodate some of the larger HSF's out there (like my Thermalright Ultra 120)...

$700? That seems like a lot for what looks like a espresso machine. I'm certain people will do some interesting things with this, it begs to be modded for liquid - now that's where it will get interesting.

I don't like it either. It is not so much that I dislike the design, I just dislike the whole idea of making cases with fancy facades and flashing lights. Fads go out of fashion. Fancy lights do NOTHING for performance, consume some power, add some heat, and do NOTHING for performance - worth repeating.

A case has 2 duties, (1) House and protect internal components from physical damage from kicks and bumps and (2) provide cooling. A case should sit "discretely" and "quietly", out of the way and not bring attention to itself.

Beyond that, I tend to pay attention to what is displayed on my monitors, and not the case.

I have come to like windows in my personal cases. It would be cool to have something like this that you could see the hardware. It's hard to beat my trusty Lian Li Lancool K-62 Simple and VERY tool less and a nice big window.

I used to not like case windows (thinking they were fads too, encouraging the use of flashy lights, etc.). But now, years later, I like a side window for one reason - routine inspections. With a side panel, a user can quickly glance in and see if heat-trapping dust is building up and if fans are spinning. Sadly, too many people go for months or longer without inpecting or cleaning. If the dust is visible, they may do something about it.

As well as make sure all fans are spinning, you heatsink has not come loose and for some reason, I just like to look at the board. I don't get into cold cathodes or fancy stuff. Just a window.

Anyway I like the idea of the case but would never buy it.

You're entitled to your opinion, I like my case to bring attention to myself, and I constantly upgrade it and add little tweaks to make it unique. I attend a lot of LAN parties so it's nice to be able to show off the hardware I'm rocking.

Who wouldn't want to see this?
