OS: Windows 7
Keyboard: TT Esports Meka mechanical keyboard: TT ESPORTS MEKA G1 KB-MEG005UK Mechanical Gaming Keyboard: Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories

Problem: It stops working about a 30 seconds after I plug it in.

Odd things:

1. It's still recognised by windows, it shows up in my devices window

2. It works with my sisters Imac without issue

3. When I put on capslocks on my ps/2 keyboard this keyboard lights up it's capslock button (though the button itself does not appear to work)

4. The USB ports in the keyboard work (plugged my wired controller in via them and played them.)

History: Back in january I rebuilt a substantial part of my pc, new motherboard, new cpu, new graphics card. But I prepped my windows 7 installation to be moved and while it was a bit of a hassle I moved everything across successfully, though it may not have been the right way, it took a lot of back and forth but eventually everything was working again. But this keyboard that had been working without issue with the previous motherboard has not worked with the current set up. I initially put it down to a busted keyboard and put it aside and used a cheap ps/2 keyboard in its place for work.

But in recent clean up I dug it back out and decided to test it with a different machine. Asked my sister to plug it into her mac and left it there for about 10-15 minutes, it worked without issue. Plugged it back into my pc and it stopped responding in less then a minute.

it honestly has me stumped cause it doesnt come with any drivers and the manufacturer's website say they dont need any. The computer recognises it and everything has power and seems to work.

But the keyboard itself doesnt?

I was linked to a very good tutorial on this website from a friend: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/165554-usb-driver-general-fix-problems.html

and I tried that to no success, so I thought that this has gone on long enough that I should put it out as a thread on its own because it's so odd and unique of an issue.

Hello and welcome connla mate first up I would be making sure the board drivers for the chipset and USB were up to scratch GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 1150 - GA-H87-HD3 (rev. 1.x)

I was going to say then update the driver if there was one for that keyboard but I cannot find any reference to it having a diver. So did it come with any software because I find it rather odd it did not.

Now you might try it in each USB port you have if it works in any of them then it would be a matter of tracking down the offending port but do the drivers first if you have not done so already.

Another thing you could try is a male to male USB cable from the KB to the machine a bit of a botch job but it could point to the attached cable being faulty.

chipset is up to date, as are the usb drivers.

It did not come with any software

I emailed them enquiring about this when the issue first occured and this was the response:

Dear Sir:

Good day
1.This device doesn’t need any driver system , you just plug in with computer you normally can use it
2.MEKA currently can’t be bused under the Window 8 ‘s system , please make sure of it
3. please try to update your motherboard ‘s USB driver

FYI

Please let us know if any question

Cheers

Thermaltake

I've tried the keyboard in all my ports, usb 2 and usb 3 and I tried a male to male usb cable and it's the same result.

I need to clarify an earlier point, Windows 7 device and printers recognises and identifies the keyboard correctly by it's model, but device manager only has it down as a HID keyboard.

Ran both of those didn't work

BUT!

I get to add a new sympton which hopefully helps us isolate the problem

The keyboard works fine at the windows log in, as the /r was taking quite a long time it left the computer alone when I came back I found the keyboard worked without issue at the login screen but when I logged in it ceased to work after a period.

Does windows 7 have a safe mode or something? It could be one of my background processes interfering with the keyboard?

CONFIRMED!

keyboard works in safe mode without issue.

and it appears to work in standard mode *until* some process begins, then it ceases. Which process that interferes with it's operation is unknown.

Now I just need help to isolate the interfering process and remove/fix it.

is there a way to see the order background processes are launched?

Cause then I could isolate the one causing a problem.

So I ended every process I could, unplugged the keyboard and plugged it back in and it still stopped working

Ok these were the only processes running when it stopped:

6 instances of Chrome *32

explorer

dwm

wacom tablet

nvxdsync

avgtray *32

taskmgr

winlogin

dinotify

atieclxx

taskeng

csrss

wacomhost

The wacom ones I know are not involve cause they are fairly new and the keyboard is a long running issue, I dont know if chrome can mess with a keyboard, but it is weird I have 6 instances as I only have 2 extensions active and only 2 tabs open. So I dont know what those 2 extra chrome instances are.

dinotify is because I changed the usb port to one I hadnt used since the last time I tried fixing the usb drivers.

I was plugging it into intentionally cause I wanted it to go through the process of recognising the keyboard

a lot of the other processes are I assume standard.

So i'm stumped.

tried again without having chrome open, still stops working.

leaves me with a limited choice of whats effecting the keyboard.

it appears to solution was to uninstall the intel usb 3.0 Extensible Host Controller driver as it was not compatible with the keyboard.

Thank you for helping and hopefully this will not lead into more problems.
