Solved Replacement USB to Motherboard Connector

Hi All,

I recently sleeved all the cables in my computer case and in the process, I ended up breaking the plastic USB connector (pictured below) for my computers front panel. I figured I could just order an extra connector but after searching for quite sometime, I cannot find anything.

Would anyone happen to know if these little plastic connectors can actually be purchased or what they are even called? I get a feeling that they have a specific name which is why my search is revealing nothing. Any help would be much appreciated. Feel free to let me know if you need anymore details or have any questions.

Thanks for the quick reply maxie, but no. It is interesting though that you posted that link because that is actually how I broke the connector. I lifted the black plastic tab too high and ended up breaking it off so now the cable doesn't stay in the connector anymore. Also the one in the link appears to be a 4-pin and the one I broke is a 9-pin I believe (pictured below).

This is true, thanks to you. I actually just did a search by "USB Motherboard Header Connector" and still can't find anything. I am guessing that they don't sell small quantities to the public. I might just have to buy a generic USB cable with the connector attached and take it off.

Thanks for the reply Dude. I checked with Cooler Master and they don't sell the cables or the connector pieces but they do sell entire replacement IO Panels. I think it might just be worth it to upgrade to the USB 3.0 panel they are selling. I would have to repaint it though in order match my case, which wasn't easy.

You can buy generic USB front panel which will fit on the floppy disk bay and they are not expensive either.

Hi Anshad, as much as I appreciate your reply, a standard USB 3.0 panel is not really what I am looking for. It is the cable from the stock panel that mounts specifically to the top of the tower that is broken (pictured above). Although a second USB panel would fix my lack of working front USB ports, I would rather fix the stock unit so I do not have any dead ports on the front of the computer. Thanks again though.

I'll tell you anyway. I remembered seeing it in various places when looking for other kinds of connector parts (and other parts, as well). Performance-PCs was the first place I looked that had it.
