How Can I restore a folder back to a certain date? SOS

copied 6000 pictures to Windows from my iphone on 13 September 2014 and the folder is still there but today i realised they have all disappeared!!!! OMG. it must have been overwritten by the windows updates that I have been receiving these past weeks. this is horrible. I tried Recuva, System restore explorer. i cant find any of the pictures. I thought i can trust Windows but NO? how can windows updates delete my photos? so ridiculous. please help!

is there anyway to go back to 13/9/2014 16:17 that is when this picture folder was created I believe if i go back then the pictures will be there. however strange thing is Recuva didnt identify any pictures got deleted in this folder...?

Hi Kelly, welcome to the Seven Forums.

Windows Update does not remove your pics, absolutely not, it is most probably something you have done by yourself (or another user of that PC).

Files can be lost for many reasons, not all of which are preventable. For that reason all files of any importance need at least one backup copy while those of particular importance need 2 or more backup copies. This is doubly important for files on portable devices. Recovery methods cannot be relied on.

Almost every day I see people come to this forum looking for help when "very important" files are lost. In many cases I am sure the files are never recovered.

System Restore will not help, it does only restore Windows system files, installed programs and system settings. It does not remove nor restore the user files.

I was talking about Restore Points. They're used for previous version of files as well!

As the Previous Versions tutorial link was already posted, I could not even think you meant that. In my opinion you referred to System Restore which as I said does not solve the OP's issue.

Actually, you were talking about System Restore. Basically put, the Restore Points are the index of the files created by System Restore and saved on the Hard Disk Drive.

And don't confuse System Restore with Factory Restore [may be other names for the same thing]. Factory Restore usually wipes everything from the computer and re-installs to put the computer back to the condition it was in when it shipped from the factory.
