School provided PC is on shared network How do I turn off & remove the

Hello My name is Sarah!
I have a pc supplied from my school and I noticed that most of my folders was shared, I turned them all off but when I turn my pc on it gives me two accounts to log into. Mine and one that says Admin that I did not create. It says password hint: assist How can I remove them completely from my computer? Also can they see any files from my pc

Who owns the computer?

If the school owns the computer, then you should check with them before changing major settings like sharing and accounts.

People that know the credentials for that Admin account should* be able to see any files on the computer as long as the computer is on a network (real or virtual) that the admins have access too.

*certain encryption schemes might prevent access to files.

You should probably ask the school's IT staff to remove the password for that admin account...

...then you can set a new password for that admin account

...then they will not be able to see your files.

Well isnt there anyway around that? This is kinda the reason I asked here... Couldn't I just go into the BIOS system and enter the Admin account that way? I have done it before with a friends computer but this I don't think is the same case.

Also I believe they are able to access my computer when I'm at home not just at school.

No, it doesn't work that way. The only way is to contact the Administrator at the school.

You might want to check with the school. They might think that the computer is not yours until after you graduate.

BIOS passwords and Windows account passwords are not related. You should not be able to gain access to a Windows account by doing stuff within BIOS.

It is possible that the school's IT staff can get to files on your computer - even when you are home. That is why I mentioned a virtual network (a network that works over the internet).

It is also possible for this kind of stuff to happen.
