You were fortunate there to see drivers readily available. But that isn't the general rule for every make and board as well as other hardwares and devices. For one older addon still in use now it wasn't until the RCs were out that the manufacturer finally released a Vista update for the application portion while the tuner driver was available since 2007. The application is what makes it work on the 64bit 7 there.

You're right, but that backs up my point. That's why I stick to Intel chipsets, because the driver support has been as good as anyone else.

Generall NVidia has been right upto date on their site for chipset support for many older boards. Unfortunately there wasn't any Vista updates for one Socket A board and a newer 939 model seeing a VIA chipset there. XP only for those.

The XP Mode would have been good for the 939 build to upgrade a family member if 939 boards, cpus supported virtualization there. I will have to temporarily set up the older Socket A job while either upgrading the 939 build or starting a new case entirely.

I've been running nForce and soon a much newer GeForce chipset for the next build for several years now and never ran into problems except for now with the old Skt A job and no support for VT on 939 boards to begin with there.

At the 3yr. interval it's generally time to retire one case to move onto a new one anyways while the old Skt A was about the last to see 98 drivers for the hardwares there if I decide to run that again at some time. As for the main system a new version of Windows(64bit of course) brings a new build!
