I use a flash drive to install certain things on multiple computers. What do I put in the shortcut info so that it automaticly will default to whatever drive letter that flash drive has at the moment?

I would have googled but I couldnt figure out how to word it.

To the best of my knowledge when you plug in your flash drive it will default to the next drive letter that particular system has available.
I know of no way to make the flash drive to install on different system with the same drive letter all the time.

Hang in there we have a lot of members and maybe someone will be able to help.
I will be watching to learn if their is a way to do such things.

I have used Safely Remove USB for assigning drive letters and it works very well. There is a free 30 day trial, but it is "pay to use" software after that.

That only works for the one PC tho. This is getting put into other computers to install things such as adobe, flash player, chrome, etc etc etc.

Ive found that the code i was looking for is %drive% but apparently windows cant process it to save that id have to use another program to do it.

As was said above, it will default to the first available letter. If you wanted your flash drive to be E:, you could arrange all PC's so that E: was the first available letter on all computers and it should default to E: on every PC.

I cant even make it save a letter from one drive to another. It automaticly uses the next available.

Did find one solution to use "Bat to exe converter" But for anyone who comes across this and wants to use it, it trys to install a bunch of bullshit. Webroot just deleted the tmp files and it installed properly without the adware stuff.

Now if only it was easy to change the icons on exe files lol

Its not my computers, I do service work and once they get installed its done. Thats why I cant set drive letters this way or that way because its a one and done kinda thing. Same for programs that handle it.
