Just a few days ago I found that my system suddenly had a new duplicate of my username with a .V2 suffix (e.g, along with MyUser there's a MyUser.V2)!
I've read up on this, and to the best of my knowledge none of the circumstances that Microsoft states would produce this new .V2 copy apply to me at all. For instance, I NEVER logon to Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 machines, I've never copied a user profile anywhere at all, and I've never shared a user profile. So why the heck do I have a .V2 username on just one of my Windows 7 machines? Is there any way to find out?
In any case, I very much wish to delete this .V2 username, but I don't know what the risks or complications are. The modified date of the .V2 user folder is more recent than the original. So should I just copy any new files and any files with more recent dates from the .V2 folder tree back into the original tree and then completely delete the .V2 tree and username, or what? Does anyone know?
What gives?
Thanks.
