My machine has been continually processing updates in the last 24 hours.
Now it's installing an udate ofr 1 of 128.

It also added and installed a service pack yesterday after which the machine
has slowed down considerably. It's not the same as it was.

Whenever I shutdown the laptop it's saying dont switch off
as it's processing updates.

What's going on please? Can any anywhere affer me some guidance
as to what I should do?

Thanks Peter

If you just installed a service pack then it sounds like your machine has not been updated for a considerable time
You will likely have LOTS of updates to follow, a couple years worth so will take a while
The general slowness of the machine may be due to the fact that windows is installing updates in the background if you are set to install automatically
Will probably take a few days and a few reboots to get them all done but should get there in the end

If you believe your machine was already updated then check windows update history to see if you have regular updates in there, MS launched a bad update last week that has impacted lots of systems and this issue could be a knock on from that

Thanks for that information, I will stick it out for the time being.

I'm grateful!
