Solved How can I disable Office Starter

..... I just tried the download link of the Starter version of Microsoft Office and it appears to have been removed.

Googled setupconsumerc2rolw.exe and found a few stashed copies ... but I don't trust stashed copies! If the source is the program publisher, that's fine ... even if it's 'buried' on a FTP server.

The alternatives are probably better anyway, Office Online seems to be a viable 'upgrade' path.

Thank you. I have already checked out Office Online and it looks OK to me. Along with Starter to-go, I am much better placed than I was yesterday.

You're welcome, I see where it might have been confusing.

I'm not sure that AutoRuns will be useful in your case. I was working off an incorrect assumption (happens to all of us) and thought the Office Starter was an entry in msconfig or in the Run key of the registry. After tilting my head and researching Office Starter, it became apparent that I was perhaps chasing a non-existing issue.

It's funny actually, I wrote a post almost identical to DavidE's post, but he types faster, so I deleted my 'duplicate' post about AutoRuns.

It won't hurt to have AutoRuns - it's small. I also don't want to second guess DavidE, he might have some ideas I dismissed. We'll see what David wants to do with AutoRuns when you get it downloaded.

Yes, I'll get back here when I download Autoruns. As you say, It would be interesting and educational to see what DavidE has in mind for me.

I also mistakenly thought Office Starter started up automatically from what I read in post#1, and that's why I suggested AutoRuns.
If it doesn't automatically start when Windows starts, there is no need to look in AutoRuns for it.

It's up to Melita if AutoRuns should be kept on the PC or not.
Either of these downloads are Portable / Standalone programs, so nothing gets installed.

I download the whole Sysinternals Suite so I have everything, even though I don't use most of the tools.

I've been playing with this a few minutes and haven't got it to run from the Web.

I can run Web Autoruns in Internet Explorer 11.
For me it doesn't run in Pale Moon, no option to Run...
