Hi Everyone,

I am looking for the ability to print to PDF (file) in Black & White - even when the original document that I am printing / saving is actually in colour.

I have installed FREE PDF Printer; however there doesn't appear to be any setting for printing to file in Black & White.

If anybody knows how to do this can you please share?

Kind Regards,

Davo

Greyscale is the normal method for printing documents, black and white is for photographic work and best left alone anyway.

Hi ShoTTaS,

Thanks for your response. However I would prefer not to have to pay for Acrobat Pro in order to reach my desired outcome.

Doesn't your printer have a b/w setting? When you print, don't you get a dialog box that allows you to change the printer settings ... portrait/landscape, paper size, b-w/color, etc. etc. ?

My method for printing pdf files (or any document type) is to select the desired options for the specific printer to be used. Click the Properties button to the right of the selected printer, and from there you can elect to print in black and white, greyscale, etc. The choices/tabs you see will likely vary with the printer chosen. Hope this helps!

Hi Everyone,

Thank you for your responses; however I think that there is a fundamental misunderstanding of what I would like to do.

I am not interested in printing a paper document. Instead I am interested in 'printing to file' or essentially saving a document as a PDF. This can be achieved with a free 'PDF Printer' (or program that saves documents as PDFs - and usually operates through the standard print dialogue). A good example, and one that I use regularly is called BullZip.

The specific challenge I am having is 'printing to file' (or saving to PDF) in black & white. I am aware that Acrobat Professional has a setting for this functionality, however I do not want to purchase Acrobat Pro just to do this (seemingly) small task.

Kind Regards,

Davo

Thanks. I just double checked and can see that you are right. I was making the mistake of clicking on print before clicking on 'Properties'. When clicking on print in Bullzip many options are presented, and I couldn't see print in 'Black & White' in any of the options presented by the software. I just needed to take one step back, to take two steps forward.
