Hi,

The FlashDrive was listed under my Computer once plugged in to a USB port of either a computer of mine.
It was working well yesterday with all my Computers, HP laptop with a USB 3.0, 2.0.(Windows 7 64Bit), and with my Desktop Computer with P 4(Two operating systems: Windows XP SP3 32Bit, and Windows XP SP2 32Bit ) with a USB 2.0, and with my P3 with a USB 1.0(Windows XP SP132Bit) . However, today, it wasn't detected at all when I tried plugging it in to a USB 2.0 port located on the in front side of my Desktop Computer P 4 in both Windows XP SP3 32Bit, and Windows XP SP2 32Bit in return. Once FlashDrive got plugged to that USB 2.0, I have noticed that notification 'a new hardware was unable to be detected well'. As a result, it was not shown in the Computer place. Thus, I tried plugging it in to the USB2.0 located on the back side of the computer, on which USB Flash Drive was was detected and was working well. However, this time was not detected at all. The FlashDrive was not detected at all in all computers' USBS once it was plugged to a USB located on the front side of a Desktop Computer P 4. Thus, I don't know if plugging it to the USB located on the front side mights corrut the Flash drive or a virus on that System might corrupt that Flash Drive . If it was detected, then it would be at least unallocated. However, even its LED didn't light at all once it got plugged in to a USB, although it was lighting before corruption
I think there are chances where a virus might corrupt the flash drive.

I don't care about repairing the USB Flash Drive as much as I care about the data inside it. Thus, Could you please at least let me know how to recover the data inside it?
My FlashDrive is ADATA 2GB, it is about 5years old
Can I take apart it, and fix anything inside? I don't see any screws to be unscrewed?

I have used some Data Recovery programs. However, as long as there is no assigned drive letter for the USB Flash Drive, and even the Flash Drive is not listed as an unallocated space once plugged in to my computer(since the USB Flash Drive is no longer identified by computer at all) , then how could any Data Recovery programs in the word be able to recovery the data on the USB Flash Drive?

Not much you can do to physically fix it so no point trying to take it apart. If it's not recognized by any of your computers it's possible it just died and not a whole lot you can do about it. There are many data recovery programs including free ones and it would be worth a try but unfortunately Flash drives can and do just die for no apparent reason

It's worth a try just in case but as you said as it's not identified by Windows at all seems there's not much you can do about recovering the data on it

THANKS A LOT,
This is what I've been afraid of. Yes, no identification of that Flash Drive at all, although plugged to the computer. It appears as though Flash Drive were not plugged to the computer, although plugged.

USB flash drive not detected!! There are just 2 reasons for it. First is there must be something wrong with the USB port of the computer and secondly the USB flash drive is corrupt. There can be many reasons for the second case such as virus infection, improper handling of USB etc. To fix this issue, go to disk management to verify if at least the USB can be recognized there. If not, then try to restore the data, else the last option is to use a data recovery program.

Thanks a lot, Yes, the second case is absolutely right. However, I know that the USB Flash Drive would be impossible to be fixed at least by me. However, representatives at ADATA Technology Company in Taiwan told me that I should send it by registered mail to Taiwan to check it as long as there is no after-sale agent in my own country 'Yemen'. However, this would be absolute nonsense since the cost of corrupted Flash Drive is just $10 USD. However, sending it to Taiwan by registered mail would be costing me much more than purchasing ten Flash Drives like the one corrupted.

Using a data recovery program is only useful if the data is corrupt but the drive is physically OK. Fixing a damaged USB flash drive is sometimes possible but is not going to be cheap. If a drive is taken apart and fixed then the next step is to copy the data off it. The damaged drive is then discarded.

Here are three YouTube videos where a technician fixed damaged flash drives and recovers the data on them. Apparently the flash drive owners felt the data on them was important enough to pay for this service.
