Hi. I just got a WD My book 3T external drive today. I tried to use windows backup to make a system image but got device error 0x8007045D. I installed their smartware program, but after looking around the forum it sounds like it's not a good choice for backing up my files? I could use some advice for what to do next.

What other info do I need to post about the problem?

Whenever you report a BSOD, you need to do it following the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions .

Also, it appears that you misunderstood my posts in your original thread. http://www.sevenforums.com/bsod-help-support/361928-bsod-when-i-wake-pc-sleep-mode.html

Nobody told to that backing up is not good. Acronis is causing BSODs for you. So you should not use it.

Rest is on you. If you dont like my suggestions, and you need to verify it otherwise, I can stop with you.

I'm sorry, I know no one said that backing up is not good. Your suggestions were fine :) As for this problem it is not a BSOD, it was just a regular error message that came up.

You wouldn't happen to know if any of those updates caused any other problems would you?

I didn't bother trying them. I backed up Windows to an other 1TB external HD using Windows Backup and I made an image to my external 3TB HDD using Todo Easus Backup Free edition.

Worked without problems!
