Same here, that is why I dont like to use Chrome. But I never suggested anybody to use waterfox and not to use chrome. They can do what they want, they all are aware users.

That is based on just the users for a particular website. Other sources I've seen show IE much higher, if not in first place.

One thing I've noticed among many geeks who disparage IE and push Chrome and FireFox is that they haven't used IE since several versions ago.

My problem is that I cannot do without dragging my 256 bookmarks into 7F posts, and only Firefox 12 will do this without altering the URL from its name I have given it. In other words, any other browser may drag the URL into the post but will convert it to its URL code http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/2803-device-installation-settings.html and not the given name as in Enable hardware auto-updating via Windows Update (Steps 3 and 6). This slows me down considerably. So I am stuck with an old version of Firefox.

Well as someone suggested the possibility of using Cyberfox here's a quick test:

Drag a copy of your bookmark and I get this:



Resulting in this:

Copy and paste the bookmark (Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V) and I get this:



Resulting in this:

So drag and drop bookmarks doesn't work. Copy & Paste bookmarks does work. Maybe there's a workaround but I don't know of one!

Thanks, Chris. That's the conclusion I've also come up against every time (at best) but copy and paste slows me down enough I'd rather use the older browser, especially now that I pop my Yahoo Mail (which won't work in FF 12) into Windows 10 Mail.

It's a lot better than my old Iphone which requires opening a second Safari windows to open the Favorite, copy it and then go back to the other Windows and paste. It causes me to avoid using Bookmarks in posts while I'm out and about.

You got that right! The only problems I ever have with IE 11 is because of lazy and/or incompetent web developers. When I complain that a website isn't working for me, the automatic response always is, "Have you tried another browser?", usually suggesting FireFox or Chrome. That's when I get my Irish up and come back both guns blazing (it isn't pretty)!

Chrome and Firefox based browsers seem to actually stick closer to the (alleged) web standards.

Putting in hacks to make a website work in IE, can easily double the amount of time required to build a website (especially if you are trying to make it work with multiple versions of IE).

In my web design course, we are supposed to check our sites against Chrome, FF and IE.
In practice our sites must work in Chrome and FF, but it is acceptable to simply list the IE errors (or to totally avoid certain features that are known to be dodgy in IE).

To me Microsoft is trying to do to I.E. is what 3rd party anti virus are trying to do.

That is keep adding things and then adding more things until it is nothing but a bogged down POS.
I personally would be happy with a safe (to a degree) browser with out all the ding dongs and do dads.

I use Firefox but yet keep I.E. set as default. Windows 7 Updates seems to like it that way.
I also don't like the methods I.E. uses for font size. Their method is either to big or two small.

I suspect you will find that 8.0 and 8.1 were the "Great Experiments" leading upto 10 or the next to come as far as seeing a universal approach to a cross platform OS. The problem is that it will prove itself to be an OS that simply still won't satisfy everyone on all platforms.

On the more positive it usually takes MS a few versions before they get things to turn out right as had been seen with the Aero themes many rejected at first sight with Vista. ME flopped still being Fat while 2000 went over big in contrast having the NT core. XP while it grew popular and many hung onto that one was due to the late arrival of Vista while the old version had been rushed out when ME tanked. So expect a lot of hesitation when it comes to MS suddenly making the drastic changes from the success 7 is still seeing as far as people jumping at the newer versions.

W10 should prove to be better then 8, 8.1 in the sense that the initial bugs were worked out while the vast changes made are going to have their moments. The return of the new form of the Start Menu will be the most noticed with 10 out of everything however.

Fixing the Start Menu was a start but that is all.

Then people like me would give it a try and I did. Looking farther into Windows 10 so far doesn't give me any happy feeling towards W-10.
All I find is a lot of Toy R Us fluff.

It would be a great operating system for those that haven't reached puberty and are using a poke and smear Tablet.

I keep asking myself; self what does W-10 bring to the table that I can't do quite well on W-7.
I'm not getting a good response to make me use W-10 so far.

I still never got the preview on the second OS drive having been tied with other things but was simply looking at the track record MS has had. It's going to be a hard sell for most who got attached to 7 right off the bat to simply pack up and move onto W10?!

I simply don't see that happening any time soon! You saw that with XP as well when both Vista and 7 was any attraction to the XP fan club until people realized it was dead issue and moved on. But they moved up the ladder in the process while things are a bit shaky now. The gui will be the main obstacle for most while the actual updates as far as improvements will be tucked away under the hood once they get the bugs out. You won't be seeing the flexibility you have with 7 now however!
