I haven't found anything that runs in VMWare that comes close to a regular install. I don't use them. The PC is virtual enough for me.
I have not downloaded or installed the newest TP yet, if you were asking me.
I was so happy to get back to 7 after a bunch of mouse, app and other TP bugs started crawling all over me for several weeks. The apps stopped live updating even after reinstall, three mice stopped scrolling and then working correctly.
Coming back to 7 it was especially a relief not to feel its age, like I had suspected and even predicted I would. It still feels fresh, new and as crispy as the TP.
But I've got some space to spare for a Dual Boot so I'll be bac comparing them soon. I haven't given up on the TP, yet. It will be nice to get back to the nicer GUI on Windows Mail because this 7 Essentials download is comparatively as clunky as Outlook Express.
