This thread is for telling your story on why you joined SevenForums. My story:

I had my old computer fixed by a technician in April 2013 along with my old laptop. After the desktop was fixed, I accidentally thought that my old desktop lost hard drive space after the technician did a clean install of Windows 7. (Before it was Windows XP) I actually found out that I just had bad memory and it was the same space as before. After that, I stayed on this website to ask other questions about my computers that I had occasionally. I also started helping people out from my experience and I have come all the way to this point. These days though, sadly I don't have much free time to just come on the forums unless I have a problem of my own. :( Thanks everyone that has helped me so far. I really appreciate it. :)

My story:

When I got windows 7 for the first time, I wanted ultimate, but got home premium. I wanted ultimate for the virtual XP feature, so I got a replacement, VMWare.
I installed virtual XP in VMWare (my first attempt with such a thing, I did not know about vmware tools), but I was not happy with its performance, so asked for help. And that is what happened in the result: http://www.sevenforums.com/virtualization/47491-problem-video-slow-virtula-xp.html

Well, doesn't that thread give a perfect idea about me? ;) :p

Not much of a story to tell, I came from Vista Forums, and I joined there because I felt like I needed to help people who had vista but hated it (convince them it wasn't so bad), the trend didn't continue to 8 forums though as I wasn't really interested myself in Metro UI, but i'm certainly looking to do 10.

I was going to school to be a network administrator, I had been using Mac OSX for several years and had bought a Windows 7 Thinkpad for school. I joined this forum to learn everything about Win 7. I now use it everyday at work and home so I stay here to stay up to date.

I made the HUGE move from XP-Pro to Windows 7. Just found this forum to learn about Windows 7.
Didn't take long to get comfortable with Windows 7 as long as I didn't treat Windows 7 the way I use to treat XP.

I have been hanging around like a maggot on a dead horse ever sense.

Microsoft's sometimes very confusing windows updates is the reason I'm here. A weird SP1 was offered last year, even to users who already had SP1 installed. No one knew what it was so I registered only to share my own findings about it: an update labeled with the wrong kb number

Yep you paint a pretty picture Jack :)

But I'm about the same I wasn't on Vista for more than a month before a free upgrade to win-7 arrived from the manufacture for my recent purchase of this desktop,

I then bought win-7 for my lappy and started out mostly on Microsoft community and followed help links to SevenForums mostly to Shawn's amazing work :)

Joined back then but didn't last very long 2012 + -
I have since grown up and a bit less angry :p
Stuck around and got into graphic's here more than anything with a dash of Internet explorer help :)

I had difficulty in understanding problems while installing Windows 7. I had language problems (still not fixed,Advanced Options are in English while system has Greek as default language). After fixing some problems,I wanted to make a tutorial but I couldn't,so I contacted support and we found the solution. This computer made me pay 350€ (almost the same if the price was in dollars) because it couldn't handle an external DVD drive with the Office 2010 DVD.

This is my first and only (right now) tutorial about installation in partitions or VHDs:

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/365322-wim-imagex-multi-boot-partitions-vhds.html

Now I continue helping others about installation issues. I also have a Vista Forums account,in which I haven't logged in for a long time, due to a big issue (0x0000001e BSOD) while installing Vista. I found that Intel HD Graphics 4000 is a culprit, because Intel supported the older OS (XP) for a 2012 graphics card, but not the 2006 Vista!

I joined here as I was having trouble upgrading my old PC from XP to W7, shame I can't find the thread as it was an interesting read for me. It never got solved but I think I figured it out since, old news though as it was a lifetime ago (or so it seems).

I lurked for a couple of years after that trying to learn stuff, I was amazed at the amount of knowledge on here. I finally started trying to help out and learned more in the process, and with the help and guidance of a few certain members (I won't name them, they know who they are) I gained some pretty in depth hardware knowledge, a much greater knowledge of W7 and gained two badges I always took for granted were way beyond my reach.

Got to love SF.

A rather good topic well done :). Good to see something different in this section.

I originally had issues with computers. I began to learn the operating system the hard way and learning from other members here. Now I am where I am today :).

Mine! :P

My first PC came pre-installed with Windows Vista Home Basic (Yep that is right, my first PC is an OEM junk :X) and I got pissed off by the poor performance of my computer thinking I need to upgrade something. What I did is buy a processor 5 days after it was released, I still wasn't happy with the performance so I bought a card (8800 GT, Died on 2011). There I was happy until one of my friends advised me to upgrade to Windows 7 and he even showed me a demo of his comparison of a game running on Vista and 7 and I was interested! So I went and buy a copy of Windows 7 Home Premium and compared the performance myself and there is the end of my story.

LOL I hope you didn't sleep while you were reading this (I dunno how to make it short xD)
