Hello all, first post here. As the title says I get a BSOD whenever I shut down my Desktop PC. I can't think of any major hardware changes, and I have already tried the system restore, but it is still happening. It might not be every time, but close (I don't shut it down very often). I've followed the posting instructions as best I can, but if I missed something please let me know. Thanks for the help in advance.

System Specs:
Dell XPS 8700

Uninstall Avast using Avast Uninstall Utility. Use Microsoft Security Essentials as your antivirus with windows inbuilt firewall, and free MBAM as the on demand scanner.

Report us for any further BSOD.

Thanks for that, I will try it and let you know of any further issues. Just out of curiosity, what is reason you recommended MSE? From the few antivirus test/review websites I have checked, it didn't do very well. Was it strictly for compatibility issues, or is there something I don't know? I'm not trying to be the jerk who questions free advice, just curious. Thanks.

Looks like uninstalling Avast fixed the issue. A couple of days worth of restarts and shut downs w/o a BSOD. Thanks for the help, Arc.

Reading many post in the last couple of week Avast has been causing some, many problems.
Probably because of some sort of update or upgrade. I really don't know.

I use MSE without any problems or infections. I also use Malwarebytes Premium.

I stopped reading all those tests and surveys a long time ago. In my opinion they are B/S. Just trying to sell you something.

I don't really know if MSE is the best or worse. All I know is it works for me.
MSE is free but I would use it even if it cost the same as others.

Those are paid surveys and tests. Like any other advertisements.
