Friends i dont know about others but after installing patch tuesday updates today which appeared to be less and easy were auto downloaded and installed as per the settings and when it restarted to complete the updation process it all started with the long screen freeze at STARTING WINDOWS LOGO (the black one)
after waiting for minutes it then goes into normal start up, as per event viewer the time of complete boot (not just desktop loading but all process starting and when viewer finally publishes info) was earlier about 120-130-140 seconds avg since years it all went to 300+ means more than 5 minutes, what i tried was restarting it again 2 times but it remained same.... prolong wait at start screen, i did try to do system restore thrice but failed then i used start up option using boot USB and it found no problems then i used system restored from there it again gave me failed answer but as per microsoft thesys res. some times gives false failed warning but rather it does the job and yes definitely when i rebooted normally it showed me system restored and this time no screen stuck up and i checked it in update history well all updates were shown installed with tick mark, i for half hour imagined that may be system files wont get restored means the update files wont be uninstalled then who was the culprit but then it happened windows re searched for updates and showed me those updates again which i earlier downloaded and installed, (critical and recommended) so which implies that may be updates are shown in history but rather have been unistalled through restoration as it again asking me to download the updates (i had changed the settings from INSTALL AUTOMATICALLY to LET ME CHOOSE when to DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL) and i did restart again and as it told you it worked good no over wait and so on... it booted as before it booted

Let me tell you i have no MALWARE, VIRUS- system is cleaned
except antivirus all start up programs are disabled and its been running fine

As of now i have put on hold the updates and need expert, you people comment and review, still may be days wait before i get more replies as many people would come up with updates issue if so any is observed
as it happens the sometimes updates cause these issues

even last month some thing sort of happened, after the updates installtion the widnows was stuck at welcome screen lept on rotating for too long and then black screen with cursor appeared which took hell period to display desktop at that time i disabled all start up programs there were two related to display IGFX and some thing so, i removed them from there and it worked fine, they were running since years but i believe there happened a conflict between them and new updates :D as it happened only after update
SO friends what you have to tell me?

This is the only reasonable choice.
I have encountered sufficient problems in recent times that I consider creating a full system image a safety requirement before installing monthly updates.

Hi honeyhanish, welcome to 7F! :)
SO friends what you have to tell me?

  • Did you see any error screens?

  • And, Do you have Service Pack 1 (SP1) installed? You do not have it showing in your system specs. The majority if not all updates that came out after SP1 require SP1 to be installed in order for your operating system (OS) to function properly.

  • What I would do is run a System Restore to before you started updating, then update one at a time and see if your machine starts better or worse, if worse that's the one you want to hold off on. Finish installing the rest to see if they act up, if any do, hold off on installing them also; You can hide them until Microsoft has a fix.

honeyhanish,

This is just an opinion you problem could be caused by one of those update to prepare your system for windows 10 upgrade. What you could do is change windows update to check for updates but let me choose whether to download them and install them Addram just posted a list of updates that you might need to remove.

I don't know how to notify Microsoft about windows update causing problem with windows 7 if that what you are saying.

I have done a clean install of Windows 7 using Dell re-installation disk (Dell sent me one). I also use Free Macrium reflect backup and restore.
Yes, your windows update setting should look like this, and you`d be wasting your time trying to tell Microsoft about bad updates.

You're welcome.

You might want to start here for feedback: https://E-mail Microsoft Customer Service | support2.microsoft.com

Don't just look here for help, this thread is mainly to see if other members are having problems and if they are they would go here: http://www.sevenforums.com/windows-updates-activation/ it would offer much better help if needed.

I see someone has moved your thread to Windows Updates and Activation.

You mentioned problems with IGFX in startup - these are part of your Intel drivers for graphics.
It would probably be a good idea to go to your manufacturer's website (Gigabyte) and see if they have updated the drivers there.

Well okay friends after keeping the updates disabled for a month long i have finally caught the culprit
as i said then that my boot time increased... in fact zooming that my MAINPATHBOOTIME increased by double (bit less or more) post these installations as it kept me awaiting on black starting windows screen
FIRSTLY as going through all the forums i uninstalled all the unnecessary windows 10 patches mainly
kb 3021917 3054476 3035583 all which were recommended ones and one 2990214 important one (as i made sure it was related to upgrade advisor) thot it was the problem but anyway it did not matter though i have hidden those
now after that by disabling recommended updates and focusing on important ones
Thus by installing each update one by one all were successful other than KB3057839 due to which it was taking long boot
i unistalled it and no more issues i read about it form official source
"MS15-061 - Important
Vulnerabilities in Windows Kernel-Mode Drivers Could Allow Elevation of Privilege
KB3057839"
This security update resolves vulnerabilities in Microsoft Windows. The most severe of these vulnerabilities could allow elevation of privilege if an attacker logs on to the system and runs a specially crafted application. An attacker could then install programs; view, change, or delete data; or create new accounts with full user rights.

also finding out that KB3057839 caused copy/cut paste being absent after update as conveyed by many users though i did not try but many wrote so....... as of now i have hidden it
regarding recommended updates i did not install them as they are really not related to system though i wana ask u
1) Are recommended update really relevant?
and coming to the point of this culprit patch this is CRITICAL and since i have hidden it
2)WILL THIS REALLY PROVE FATAL?
or its just safeguard from vulnerablity which can ,not surely, but can happen?

i did it just because waiting for us is the july's patch tuesday in coming 2 days dont' know what it wud bring to us surprise or malfunction as its been doing since 4-6 months, one or all we have faced really problematic updates......So Fingers Crossed'

will see to it only after genuis people like you here and there will troubleshoot and convey us about the new problem if any enocountered
but plz genius people like here can reply that why this patch wud cause the concerned issue?
the CULPRIT BEING KB3057839
