Having a issue where my monitors are going to sleep

I'm posting this in this forum because I have no idea what is causing this problem.

I have had both monitors for 3-4 years and never had any issues, On my latest new build I installed a new graphics card and now I am having this issue.
I always set my power options to never go to sleep and I have never had a issue. Now with the new graphics card even with all power settings set to never my monitors are going into a sleep mode. I called the support they checked everything and everything is set correct. They say maybe the MB bios has some kind of power saving settings. I don't know if my MB has such settings but my guess is it is one guy throwing the ball to someone else because they didn't know what was wrong.

As most of you who have read my posts know I over build when I build my systems and I really didn't need a new graphics card so if I can figure this issue out I will put the old one back in and return the one I just bought.

Before doing that I wanted to know if anyone have the same make of graphics card and experienced the monitors going into sleep. Both monitors go to their standby mode and the minute I mouse the mouse everything comes back until it happens again when I am not using my system.

I AM 100% that all my settings are correct. has anyone else had this issue?

Please first see if the issue occurs after disabling the screen saver (by selecting the screen saver to "None"). If the issue persists, please disable sleep in BIOS. To check the BIOS settings, please refer to the user manual or contacting the motherboard manufacturer.

In addition, please set the following Group Policy and see if the issue can be resolved.

1. Please go to Start, type Group Policy in the Search box and then press Enter.
2. Expand the following item:

Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> System -> Power Management -> Video and Display Settings

3. Double click "Turn Off the Display (Plugged In)".
4. Change the setting to "Disabled".
5. Click OK.
6. Repeat step 4 to 5 to disable "Turn Off the Display (On Battery)".

Also, you can test in Clean Boot and see if the issue occurs.

"Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> System -> Power Management -> Video and Display Settings" when I click on power management I do not see Video and display settings.

Double check you are at computer configuration and not User conf. If it isn't there maybe that's the problem? Do the other folders under Power management exist?

There are 2 administrative templates in group policy, make sure you are looking at the correct one. And inside power management there are other folders/ categories - are those available? Any kind of filtering set?

I know nothing about group policy or the folders. I have a call to Microsoft today . I know 1 thing, my monitors go to sleep every hour on the hour if I am not working on my computer.

What I am trying to say is it is easy to look at the wrong section in group policy, since there are 2 administrative templates. I will post a screenshot when I get home.

I appreciate your help but what I am trying to tell you is I never hear of group policy, or administrative templates. I wouldn't have the slightest idea how to work in what you describe above. I will be much appreciative if you explain what you are telling me and if that is not asking too much maybe a step by step explanation of what you think could be my problem. I sat here from 3:50 AM and didn't touch my computer and at 4:50,5:50,6:50,7:50,8:50,9:50 and 10:50 my monitors went to sleep.

My power options are set to never go to sleep, I set them that way and Microsoft double checked and made sure they were set right. My motherboard Maker, Asus told me that there isn't anything on the motherboard that would just put the monitors in sleep mode, the graphic card maker also told me that there is nothing on the graphics card that would cause the monitors to go to sleep.

Since this happened only after a Microsoft tech was fixing something on my system remotely, it has to be something in the OS.

Oh sorry, what you need to do was in an earlier post :)

Let me re-post here.

3. Double click "Turn Off the Display (Plugged In)".
4. Change the setting to "Disabled".
5. Click OK.
6. Repeat step 4 to 5 to disable "Turn Off the Display (On Battery)".

Restart PC after those 2 changes. I need to search for the errors.

This is a long shot but did you check the settings in your monitor? Some monitors have their own sleep settings and it's remotely possible that changing GPUs may have disturbed them.

This is a long shot but did you check the settings in your monitor? Some monitors have their own sleep settings and it's remotely possible that changing GPUs may have disturbed them.

I've had these monitors for 5-6 years and they would have given me this issue before now so, No It isn't my monitors 100%!!

Thanks for the reply but none of my monitors have a power saver mode that can be set. Even if I had the options to change a setting Only I would be able to make the changes. TRUST me. If the monitors were the problem I would have had this issue way before this week.

Thanks
Ron

Hey, did the Group Policy change not help?

Try clearing CMOS/loading defaults in BIOS.

You can also update BIOS if above fail.

I have Samsung Monitor 244T, and Westinghouse L2410NM. On the samsung I do not have the software installed. I haven't installed the software for several years. I Westinghouse didn't come with software to my be of knowledge.. I really appreciate you trying to help me with this but I've built 4-5 systems over the years and have used these monitors which are plug and play abd the OS recogined them each and every time.
