Hey Everyone,

Am trying to help a friend of mine out with his headset however am having issues since I have not worked with them I myself normally get USB headsets but my friend has jacks, So I thought I would ask here to see if anyone has any ideas or knows how to fix this issue.

First of all my friend has a Razer Kraken Pro Gaming Headset and when we teamspeak or skype etc… There is always static on his end making it almost hard to hear him. This is his new headset before this he had some cheap one which did have static still but his voice would overlay the static so it would “work” but with the Razer Kraken Pro Gaming Headset it’s not the same deal. What I have tired is getting him to put the pink jack in both the front port and back port but nothing still static. So then I told him to go into his Sounds He has one playback setting which is his Headset and one Recoding which is his Mic. In the recoding I went into the Front Mic Properties I did Microphone to 100 and Microphone Boost from 25.0dB to 30.0dB (Max) When I put it on 0.0dB I cannot hear him whatsoever. In Enhancements I ticked “Disable all sound effects” In Advanced I unticked everything in Exclusive Mode but I kept the default format (2 Channel, 16 bit 44100 Hz (CD Quality). After this I went into his skype settings making sure the mic is set and I unticked “Auto adjust mic settings”
And after this entire he still has static?! Am not sure what more I can do does are the only things I can think of since I use a USB headset/mic.

His using Windows 7 64 and here’s something odd when I send him a video/song I can hear that being played back within his mic and no he does not have speakers I thought that was stereo mix but I checked it and its disabled. I hope someone knows how to fix 

also sorry for my bad English!

Thanks

not sure about the static, but with the sound coming through the mike try this if he has realtek audio, from Tom's Hardware
"Go to Control Panel > Realtek HD Sound Effect Manager > "The Audio I/O" tab
Then click on the wrench (tools) symbol next to Analog and make sure "Disable front panel jack detection" is NOT checked."

Hi Hacb,

I will try that next time when am on his PC again :) by default is it checked?

Also another issue with Realtek is that I cannot access "Device Advanced Settings" as it's grayed out? I wanted to tick "Separate all input jacks as independent input devices." As I read somewhere that could help but again I can't access it as the settings is grayed out :/

My next thing am going to ask him is to unplug any unused things i.e. Printer, scanner but not the mouse or keyboard as I read that can interact with the jacks and make the sound.

Thanks

It's his computer. One account I can do anything I can edit reg files etc..

I tried to run Realtek as an Admin but I cannot right click since I go Control Panel\All Control Panel Items.

Thanks

Note: When I was trying to access "Device Advanced Settings" we was in a Skype call together maybe case the mic was being used so we could not access it? But then again we was playing a game so there was sound input etc..
