I've had this annoying problem for a long time now and never figured out how to fix it, I have all the latest Realtek audio drivers and even tried different versions with no luck of getting rid of the noise that my headset mic makes in-game or in recordings.

Like the title says it's a constant high-pitched squeal noise alongside with static.

I have a youtube clip of the exact noise here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZzL8z3o33no

I'm using the ASTROs A40 TR and also tested the Sennheiser G4ME Zeros, both mics make the same noise, so the problem is not in the headsets.

Motherboard: ASUS Maximus VIII Hero

If anyone has any idea what this could be please let me know, thank you!

I have the same ASUS motherboard. I do not have any audio "noise" problems. I use my PC for my recording studio (although I used a different audio for recording).

The noise sample is considered "white noise".

A high microphone volume setting may cause this. Does it make the noise if you connect the microphone portion to the Pink mic jack on the rear I/O panel?

Do you get the noise with a different PC?

When I only plug in the microphone to the rear mic jack I only get the white noise, and as soon as I plug in the audio for the headset the high-pitched squeal starts. I think it has something to do with the onboard audio amplification and I have no idea how to adjust it.

The squeal is feedback because either the microphone volume (most likely in this case) is too loud or the headset volume is too loud. This is similar to what happens on stage when microphone volume is too loud and feeds back and causes high pitched squeals.

Turn off (if you are using) Sonic Studio Enhancements. Room Correction, etc. Lower the volume level of the microphone to see if that helps. Also headset volume.
