Solved Please help me get rid of the Windows 10 upgrade

Hi,

I have the Upgrade to Windows 10 update that has appeared in my windows update panel, also if i accidentally click on Shutdown it will install windows 10. i have managed to get rid of the KB3035583 update so the icon has now disappeared from the task bar, But how do i get rid of this update in my windows update panel and stop it appearing again.

I do not want Windows 10 and wish to stay with my Windows 7 pro, so would really appreciate help as i really do not wish to make a mistake and click on the shutdown and install it by mistake. Please help

This is what i see when i click on Start > Control Panel > System & Security > Windows Update.
How do i get rid of it ?

And this is what i see on the Start Button, If i accidentally click on this it will install Windows 10 which i do NOT want.

Please Can anyone offer a simple solution to the above please as i have no idea how to get rid of this annoying Windows 10 upgrade out of my Windows update area or off the shut-down button, see above pics

Well if the update is waiting to install as you've stated I would do the above first,
So at least the shield icon will be removed.

Thank you, that reg file has got rid of the install update on shut down shield for me, I now just have this to remove now which i see when i click on "Control Panel > System And Protection > Windows Update.

I have had several looks through the posts in the link you provided but am still baffled as to how i remove it.
I did the get-hotfix thing you suggested and it showed i have the following

KB2952664
KB2990214
KB3021917 I have no idea what to do with these ?

KB3035583 is not installed

Can you advise further please

What I do is pretty simple.

Go to Change Settings, (upper left (See your picture)

You need to use

Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them.

Restart your computer.

As per your picture/ Go to the lower left corner of that picture and tick on Installed Updates.
Then in the Search Control panel (upper right) type in the KB you want to remove.
Right Tick on the KB when shown and select to remove.

Restart computer.
Search for Windows 7 Updates again.
The update you remove will be offered again. Right tick on it and select Hide.

Do it with one KB you want to remove for a test.

Get back to us on the results.

PS. We were all computer numpty at one time.
Members on this forum will guide you and with time you will learn a lot.
The big thing is to follow instruction and if they are confusing, just ask for more help.

Do i remove these ?

How do i know which is the one to remove the Windows 10 upgrade reserved as per my picture ?

I remove them on my computers then Hide them.

I want nothing to do with a Upgrade of Windows 7.
You can also do what many of us do with a KB in question. Google it and read about it.

Here's the settings suggested to use by LayBackBear and I agree,

After that you should see each update,
Right click the undesirable update and click on Hide.
Should be all it takes.

I do not see "Give me Updates for Microsoft Products and check for new optional Microsoft software when i update Windows" All i see is what is shown in the image below. Can you advise how i rectify this please ?

Hi,
I have Office 2007 so that box makes sure Office updates are offered as well as windows updates,
I would Uncheck give me recommended updates the same way..,
That way all recommended updates are listed in the Optional section instead of the Important section.
All of these win-10 updates started out as recommended/ Optional
Later M$ moved or reclassified 1 or 2 as important just to keep people on their toes

Hi what happens if you click on the link there that says Show all available updates ?
If it shows win-10 right click it and select Hide.
