> I do not see a key shortcut key/combo to minimize only the active window.

Try pressing Alt + Space - then release that combo and press the letter N.

That is the closest thing that I know of to natively do what you asked. You could use a 3rd party tool like AutoIt, but doing so would be a bit more involved.

MourningStar,
You might also consider assigning a shortcut key to your pinned shortcut. That way, if your hands are already on the keyboard, you can launch your screensaver shortcut without reaching for the mouse.
That would be an idea... if Windows allowed shortcuts' hotkeys to function outside the "%userprofile%\Desktop" or "%appdata%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu" folder hierarchies. While pinned, for the shortcut hotkey to work you'd have to hardlink your shortcut to one of these locations first.
My testing indicates that the shortcut key (shown below) works for a shortcut pinned to the taskbar:
[...]
Ah, you're correct. I can't find it documented anywhere, but Windows 7 must have added "%appdata%\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned" as a path where a shortcut's hotkey may be valid. That makes three separate hierarchies where shortcuts' hotkeys will function:
  • %userprofile%\Desktop
  • %appdata%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu
  • %appdata%\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned
Well. At least my internal Windows documenation has been updated.

Also, for pinned items, don't forget that Win+# (where # is a number 1 though 9) is an automatically set hotkey for the first nine items pinned on the taskbar.

Also drag and drop using the right mouse button should work. When you release the right button chose Create a shortcut.
That does not help one create a pinnable screensaver file, Ztruker.

MourningStar,
This list of shortcuts seems to be better than the one I posted earlier:
128 Keyboard Shortcuts for Windows 7

Pyprohly,
...and there is
Shift + Win + #
too
:-)

I add a folder in the Start menu that contains shortcuts to scripts and rdp files just so I can add shortcut keys.

Thx for the new list UsernameIssues !

FYI - I have a Logitech gaming keyboard. I compute in a very dark environment so I use dark themes, night mode, etc. and was looking for a keyboard that had illuminated keys. I discovered the G510s, designed for gamers, and fell in love with it immediately. Although, I am not a gamer, it's perfect for my needs. The abundance of programmable keys gives me the added capability of doing common tasks at the push of a button and the lcd display is so cool and it let me remove some gadgets I had on my desktop. This topic and all the helpful contributions has prompted me to learn about using this keyboard's programmable capability which I had not until now. As expected I programmed the screensaver and minimize windows keys, ha, I even programmed a key to open this new list, I'm on my way! :)

Pyprohy, thx for joining the thread and contributing. You folk are amazing.

-cheers
