Silverston EC04-P - Transfer speeds

I bought this card some time ago because my MB did not have the 19 pin header for front panel USB 3.0. Just today I was transferring some really large files and decided to check transfer rates. All I can say I was unimpressed. Transfer rates were about 28 MB/sec to my USB 3.0 memory stick. I plugged it in to my other pc with a MB with 3.0 onboard. Same files transferred at ~80 MB/sec.

All drivers are up to date. How can I tell what my problem is?

What PCI slot do you have it plugged in?

And you might want to check the firmware, there seems to be an update. SilverStone Technology Co., Ltd.INTRODUCTION：EC04-P

I missed the firmware upgrade. I will give it a try. I am using the PCIEX1_2 slot on the Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD3 MB. Why would it matter which PCIe 1x slot is used?

I downloaded the updated firmware. When I executed the file I get the error, "Not found Host Controller". On the silverstone website this firmware upgrade was tagged for Windows 8 support. Since I am running Win 10 maybe this is the reason for the message. Maybe the firmware needs to updated for Win 10.

Hm, yeah might be and about the PCI slot, just making sure it's not inserted in the wrong one.

Could you go into the Device Manager and locate the device and see if there is an update?

And maybe go to here GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 1156 - GA-P55A-UD3 (rev. 2.0) and download and install the Chipset and USB3.0 drivers!

Oh and please update your specs if this is your machine!
