I've been using ccleaner for a few years and it didn't occur to me not to use it with W7.
Consequently I've used it, both the windows cleaner and the registry cleaner, on a weekly basis on numerous builds since late 2008.
I've had no problems with it.

It may work but the issue is - "Why bother"? Registry Cleaners are largely if not completely unnecessary, and I've never seen any data which shows an improvement in performance or speed. Even if there are a few (say hundreds) stray registry entries - so what? The system is ignoring them anyway. One respected MS/tech/commentator does not object to a very occasional use of a reliable cleaner, but in 7 especially I'd just steer clear, so many of the cleaners have caused grief so the risk isn't worth the non-existent payoff.

I've been running Eudora 7.1 Pro on Win7 RC for 5 months.. NO issues, except there is no more Drag & Drop for attachments, and the Dictionary in the spell checker won't let me add entries... otherwise all is well, and It's still the best Email client around !!..

Caveat... The computer I'm using is an older rebuilt with a used CPU... at my work..(Cheapskates) which could account for some of these small problems.

In a few weeks I'll be installing Win7 at home on my much more powerful and up-to-date system and Eudora is one of the TOP 10 programs to be installed immediately after. I'll post if there are any issues.

Just shows how stupid I am! I thought Eudora expired round about the turn of the century. Seems their web designer was the one that expired going by the look of the web page.

I note that Eudora 7 is no longer supported, it's not available and there are no new licences on offer. I think the response to that is "thank God!".

Also there seems to be an open source beta of version 8 available - but I didn't have the guts. What would I do with it anyway?

First, CCleaner is really safe for cleaning the registry.
Second, after uninstalling dif. programs stuff remains in your registry and that's why it is good to clean it.

However it is part of my Sunday routine: CCleaner-disks and registry, run Malwarebytes, run SUPERAntispyware, run Raxco Perfect disk 10.

I've been doing this every Sunday with W7x64 since December '08 and before that with Vistax64.

It's not possible for me to say whether this has achieved anything but I've yet to have a crash or BSOD with W7 and it still amazes me with it's speed.
Had a couple of BSODs in the previous couple of years with Vista which were GPU driver related.

Maybe I've been lucky:sarc:

I don't want to get into too big a thing here. Really what I'm on about is that most users need not worry much about what is going on behind the scenes in their OS especially where that OS is Win7.

MS didn't remove the Defrag front end for nothing. They don't offer in any form a Registry Cleaner, Registry Defragger or anything else. Their built in Windows cleaner is way adequate. The OS is highly efficient and stray entries in the registry will for the most part not have any effect on overall performance.

If people want to spend time (and sometimes money) with add on services that's fine - but the likelihood is that it wont help much and probably not at all.

The CCleaner routine, popular tho it is is probably way overkill. Think about it - files dumped as temps in a temp folder addiing up to a few megs (or even hundreds of megs), what harm can they cause? - they aren't being accessed, they aren't doing anything, and on your huge hard drive they aren't taking any room (dust under the carpet). I know Ccleaner cleans more than that but the principal is the same.

Build 7100-Confirming Iolo System Mechanic v9 is bad news.System restore got me back,but I didn't run all available tweaks.Iobit's ASC Pro v3.3.4 has had no ill effects,but I will not use the reg defrag feature as it wasn't reliable on XP.New guy here wants to know proper spot to pose question regarding dissappearance of system restore points after optimized defrag (of hard drive) with several of my favorite defraggers.Search of "system restore" actually led me to this thread-a great one I might add.Thanks for the read.

it was the reg defragger that caused the problem and comes under the general listed registry defraggers to avoid.

If you mean NOD32 that's not accurate. There was a problem with Eset Security Suite with network shared folders but they have fixed it. NOD32 by itself works perfectly on windows 7 and always has.

tw33k is correct. nod32 is perfectly compatible with windows 7 (32-bit and 64-bit). There is just no way that it would disable your wireless connection.

I wish i found this place sooner. I used ccleaner on the registries and it didnt cause bsod, but it cause my pc to slow down to the point I had to reformat.

Wireless users should stay away from utorrent as it causes conflict with drivers, causing bsod in hardware form.

No.. what it means is that these programs are not 100% compatible with windows 7.. These are best avoided at the present time...
