Solved Macrium Reflect Recovery Boot Menu entries

I've never disabled drives in BIOS, so i don't know.
If you can disable individual drives, you could try it and see how it works.
Just make sure you keep notes of what you change so you can change it back.

I have disabled in BIOS previously, and it works, but not everyone has confidence in UEFI/BIOS settings being as effective & reassuring as a physical disconnection will be. As you say, I'll know when it comes to selecting the location for the W10 installation if the disks are there or not; and I have images of W7 (all system partitions) to restore if I disable the wrong SSD :>)

I've now forgotten what the OP was about--yeah, right; system recovery menu [child-like giggle].

Yes, I did look at a similar swap bay on Amazon UK: Akasa AK-IEN-03 Lokstor M21 2.5 inch 2 Bay Mobile Rack: Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories I've never used one, but I can see that it's a useful device. I don't have a 3.5in external faced bay in my case, but I guess there are ways round that situation.

You could look into a Hard Drive docking station that don't need a 3.5 PC external case bay.
If you have an eSATA connection on your PC, that should give the best performance.

Here is an example of this type of device:
ORICO 6619US3-BK SuperSpeed USB 3.0 to SATA Hard Drive Docking Station for 2.5" and 3.5" HDD, SSD [4TB Support] - Newegg.com

This board doesn't have an eSATA port, but I do have a drive dock: Anker USB 3.0 & eSATA to SATA External Hard Drive Docking Station for 2.5 or 3.5inch HDD & SSD [6TB Support]: Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories which performs well. I only connect it for saving backups of my backups, system images etc. on previously used drives to gratify my OCD tendencies and nurture my irrational fear of a Cryptolocker visitation :>]

I do have 3 x 5.25 bays (!?!), though I can't remember the last time I used the optical drive--probably ripping audio CDs (whatever they were) for an HTML5/javascript custom audio player with playlists. If only life were still that simple :>)

If you are interested, something like this could give you an esata port on your system. StarTech Model ESATAPLT1LPL SATA to eSATA Add-On Card - Newegg.com

Thanks essenbe; that would, amongst other uses, give me access to the eSATA port on the drive dock.

This card on Amazon UK: SEDNA - PCI Express (PCIe) 2 Port SATA III 6.0 Gbps Host Adapter with Low Profile Bracket: Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories is probably one I'd go for; SATA III (6Gbps), though that seems to limited to 5Gps speed as it runs on PCIe x 1, and has two ports. Not many reviews, but one suggests that the W8 driver is good for W10.

Why is stuff in the US so much cheaper than here in the UK? Low tax regime, I guess. But then we do have *** ****** ****, which I can't mention here--rule 8 applies :=||

I hope it helped. The card you mentioned is to add sata III ports to your computer. Depending on what you are transferring data to, there is no mechanical hard drive that will write even at max sata II speeds.

Ah, yes, well I haven't bought anything yet :>) and I'm constantly learning that the theoretical never matches up to the practical, so yeah, SATA II would be all I'd need. Thanks essenbe--all information gratefully received.

An update (for anyone who hasn't fallen victim to the terminal 'yawn' virus here :)

I disabled the other 2 disks in UEFI/BIOS (after having used the W10 disk first to test).
The firmware listed the drives with labels that made it easy to identify: my SSDs are Samsung 840 Pro for W7 and 850 Pro for W10, which made the selection easy.
I re-installed W10, (deleted partitions until the entire disk was unallocated space) & restarted after reconnecting the other disks with no issues.
I disabled Fast Startup, used EasyBCD to add a W7 entry to the W10 boot manager, and I now have dual-booting using the graphical menu, including choice of default OS without invoking the W7 text-based menu when changing, as happened before.
If the W10 disk fails, I can select the other in BIOS to boot from (thanks to DavidE's reminder).

Next up is the M Reflect installation, after which I can add its recovery menu entry, and return to mark this one as solved.

MR boot menu entry created: yes, MR creates the PE environment 'on demand' without having to create the USB recovery media (which I already made in W7) first. This is version 6.1; previous free versions did not have that boot menu option available.

Users folder moved to H:\Users, and now I'm trying to resolve multiple event viewer reports that have been appearing 50-60 times per minute; all relating to a system process that 'sysprep' failed to inform about the Users folder's move, and trying to write to a database in C:\Users......

Solved by turning off 'Sync my settings'.

Thank you for the help, advice and information.

Great to hear you have Macrium working with your latest setup !

I can't help with moving User folder's or Sysprep isues.
Here's a couple of SF tutorials that might help (if you haven't already seen these):
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/18629-user-folders-change-default-location.html
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorial...reate-move-during-windows-7-installation.html

No, I haven't seen those, but my issue is with the Users folder on W10; I realize I've been squatting in the 7 forums, taking up valuable pixel-space with my W10 issues, so I guess I should start a new thread in 10 forums.

I've marked this solved, as the title query issue has been resolved.

Thanks DavidE et al. I'm sure I'll be back here before long having done something really dumb :>]
