I too am sad that Windows 7 will be overtaken by 10 but then that's just how things are in life.
Windows 8.1 will be supported by MS until 2023, which gives you, in a worst case scenario, 3 additional years of a non-Windows 10 MS supported OS.
Your current problems with Windows 10 will be a thing of the past in a year or a couple at most. Until then all you can do is use Windows 7 or 8.1 and wait. That's how it's been with practically every OS before.
