Solved NVIDIA GeForce 9600MM GT latest driver?

I'd like to know what the latest driver is for my graphics card. W7 has offered an update for it including loads of other stuff but it screwed up my display so I rolled back to the previous version, driver 7.15.11.7620 dated 19 July 2008, which is what I'm using now. Any help appreciated.

PS thread title should read 9600M GT, not MM GT

I tried GeForce Experience before but it comes with so much junk and additional processes I uninstalled it straight away, and I can't see an option for my graphics card in the manual search option.

Oops yep sure does yea Java isn't worth that
Can you download and install cpu-z and post the graphic's screen shot
The download/ setup.exe is on the left side down just a little bit,
CPU-Z | Softwares | CPUID

You don't have to install GeForce Experience to install GeForce's drivers. When you download and start installing you can simply select their driver and that's all. You also don't have to use auto detect.

According to NVidia's website, this is the latest driver available:
Drivers | GeForce

(Note: If you look down in the "Supported Products" section, it shows your video card in the "GeForce 9M Series(Notebooks) section.)

Just because it's the newest does not mean it's the best

The last 2 or 3 have been installing Vulkan api without notice that I have noticed anyway

I'm still on 361.75 personally it works.

I've had 0 problems with the newest drivers. I haven't noticed Ulkan api at all on my system.

Vulkan shows in programs and features
Also on the start menu oddly enough with no real description I ever saw
Seems more like a pup than anything the way it was installed without any indication on the custom install.

What is the Vulkan api? Is it dangerous for your system? Or is it just something that gets installed without your permission so it's assumed to be "malware" until proven otherwise? This is just out of my own curiosity, and can possibly help the OP determine whether or not he/she wants the newest driver with this api or not.

It shows the same in win-10 although in all apps
Hard to not notice unless blind

Thanks a lot for the help, really appreciated. I agree with what you say that newest isn't necessarily best. As I said W7 does offer an update for it but it messes up my display. Could this be because my screen resolution is only 1024x768?

Also, I've been thinking of trying to upgrade to W10. Would the Nvidia GeForce 9600M GT work with it?

As you said the M$ driver is worse in 7 so 10 will also be the same

If you try 10
At the least create a system image to a totally separate hdd well before upgrading so you can get back your win-7 reliably after using win-10 very poor system restore back to 7,

Forcing updates on you is one of a number of things I don't like about W10. I think there may be a way to prevent this where drivers are concerned but I'll have to learn more about it. With W7 there's none of that hassle though. You just pick and choose what updates you want.

It's interesting you mention Macrium Reflect Free because I've been looking at it and if I do try to upgrade to W10 that's exactly what I would do. People I've read about who have tried to go back to W7 just using Windows restore have had real problems, as you confirm.

The more I think about it, the more I think I might just stick with W7. It works very nicely and if my laptop is still working when support ends in Jan 2020 I can decide what to do then. Thanks again for the help.

Yea everyone should at least try win-10 and see what's up
Not everyone is prepared for the worst case in returning back to either 7 or 8..
Just remember you have 30 days to use win-10 system restore back to 7

And yes 7 rules
