I'm not confident that this W7 rollup (if it ever eventuates) won't "accidentally" include the GetW10 stuff.

The article seems to indicate that the W10 stuff would be in a roll up by definition:

Convenience rollups are a single package of fixes that were designed at "recommended" by Microsoft

Perhaps there is a typo in that sentence.
Maybe it was supposed to read:
...were designed as "recommended"...

A lot of the W10 stuff has come in thru recommended updates... which is why there are so many forum posts suggesting that users remove the check by "Give me recommended updates the same way I receive important updates" in the Windows Update settings.

It has been reported that the convenience rollup includes telemetry updates.

Disable via TaskSheduler.

Additional info:

Open Task Scheduler. Under Task Scheduler Library > Microsoft disable or delete the following items:
Everything under “Application Experience”
Everything under “Autochk”
Everything under “Customer Experience Improvement Program”
Under “Disk Diagnostic” delete only the “Microsoft-Windows-DiskDiagnosticDataCollector”
Under “Maintenance” “WinSAT”
“Media Center” and click the “status” column, then select all non-disabled entries and disable them.

Media Center tweak is optional.

You have to be careful what you wish for, I understand "Roll-UP" to mean something you do when you're completely finished using something - You roll it up and put it, (or throw it), away

I think Microsoft would like to roll up and throw away those of us who still run W7.

I think they were referring to me.

Oh well, if I am still around in July of 2017 we shall make our decision.

It's nothing to do with upgrading to Windows 10. They are just telemetry updates similar to those included in Windows 10 but released for Windows 7.

Also changes would need to be made after installing rollup.

Opting out of ceip should be all that is needed or at least what we are made to believe
Which looking at the services you posted would suggest that is not the case
Start and type in the search box
Customer Experience Improvement Program
And see if one is opted out or not which I was all of those services were enabled :/
Except for windows media center which is off in windows features.

1) Confirmed... kinda sorta... The rollup "removes" about 150 or so individual KB's Post SP1---> April 2016 Patch Tues from the Installed Updates listing in Control Panel---> Programs & Features---> Installed Updates (see screenshot below) and replaces the components of those 150 or so updates with a single listing "KB3125574" (Conv Rollup)



After the rollup KB's 3068708, 3075249 & 3080149 are installed even though they do not appear under the "Installed Updates" tab. But to further complicate & muddy the situation after running Windows Update Cleanup & subsequent WU check for updates you'll likely (depending on your settings) find:



There are 6 Win 10 GWX/Telemetry related KB's listed to avoid/hide - 2952664 3021917 3035583 3068708 3080149 & 3123862.

Wait... whut? 3068708 & 3080149 are listed? I thought they were installed with the rollup, and as such should NOT be listed in WU as "available"???. Yes, in a perfect world they would NOT be listed but this is WinDOZE Updates we're talkin'...

BOTTOM LINE: hide the 6 offered updates and just live with the fact that WU is, was & always will be FUBAR,

I have found this supposed solution that I am going to test it right now :

The "Bottom Line 6 updates..." line you quote is directed to a fully-patched system with the KB3125574 Convenience Rollup Update successfully applied. IT HAS NO BEARING on your system, with a fresh install.

I had a quick look at the Aegis link... their Update list to avoid borders on Alex Jones like conspiracy-theorist paranoia IMHO

For those of us who have been around for a while, (over 30 years) and dealing with Microsoft, the promise of a Roll-Up for Windows 7 is just another broken promise.
I just installed Windows 7 on my PC, (to replace Win-10) and then I downloaded and installed SP1. That seems to work well, but after that I just turned OFF Auto Updates.
I am afraid that MS might do like they did with XP....send out updates that would cripple XP, forcing people to upgrade to Vista. So I personally don't want any more upgrades to my Windows 7, from MS. It's running just fine the way it is.

I ran many a service call, to repair PC's that has been disabled by an update from MS. Once bitten twice shy!
I'm getting too old now, to put up with that BS on my own PC.
