Solved Added A Monitor To Laptop Can't View Separate Applications On Both

I can duplicate the screen and switch one off or on but can't run two applications one on each screen.
I clicked resolution, to get the dual display option.Under multiple displays I selected extend these displays. All I have on the added monitor is the desktop display photo from my laptop. I have Googled, but can't understand why I can't put applications etc on the added monitor. I want to run SketchUp Make on my laptop and play video tutorials on the added monitor, following along, on my laptop. The monitor I have is a Hannes G model HSG1111.
I've uploaded couple of screenshots.
Any help much appreciated.

Have you tried moving the other application window to where the extended screen is located? You should see it there.

If you open an application on the laptop, can you drag it from the laptop screen onto the bigger monitor?

There are other options if you right click your desktop and go to graphic's options
Busy image but the options are through multiple menu options

I changed them round, renumbered them.See attched photos. I can now move SketchUp onto the larger monitor. Through having a little play I can move the YouTube Sketch up videos onto the large monitor then move SketchUp back to the laptop. Then play the tutorials and follow along in SketchUp. Think the difficulty is solved now.
So mega thanks and to others for their input.
