My computer has been running slow after a BSOD that occurred when I was playing Subnautica that happened a few days ago on 8/28/16. My computer suffered from a BSOD a few months ago but I was able to solve it and get it working back to normal. But now I cant seem to figure out this problem. My CPU has been running at a high usage, sometimes 50%+ just sitting idle, going up to 100% watching videos or opening a few tabs on Chrome, and the computer can't play any games anymore as they drop down to >10fps and/or crash.
I ran WhoCrashed and it gave me these results back:
On Sun 8/28/2016 9:47:23 PM GMT your computer crashed
crash dump file: C:\Windows\Minidump\082816-24195-01.dmp
This was probably caused by the following module: atikmdag.sys (atikmdag+0x15EAB1)
Bugcheck code: 0x3B (0xC0000005, 0xFFFFF88011162AB1, 0xFFFFF88002AD7750, 0x0)
Error: SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION
file path: C:\Windows\system32\drivers\atikmdag.sys
product: ATI Radeon Family
company: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.
description: ATI Radeon Kernel Mode Driver
Bug check description: This indicates that an exception happened while executing a routine that transitions from non-privileged code to privileged code.
This appears to be a typical software driver bug and is not likely to be caused by a hardware problem.
A third party driver was identified as the probable root cause of this system error. It is suggested you look for an update for the following driver: atikmdag.sys (ATI Radeon Kernel Mode Driver, Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.).
It looks like the ATI driver or the atikmdag.sys is the problem? I have looked online about updating ATI drivers, but I can't find any information about that or a place to download them from amd's website. I have tried updating the graphic card drivers and others to the latest versions. I have run a few programs trying to pinpoint the problem, such as chkdsk, and I have scanned my PC with Microsoft Security Essentials and no viruses, etc. popped up. Let me know if there is any other information that I should provide if needed. Any programs that I should download that will help or any information on how to solve this would be greatly appreciated, thank you.
