Here you go, a screenshot of the HTML 5 page for youtube, I think this was turned on recently too for my youtube, I remember reading something about the HTML 5 getting activated pretty recently.

Okay, I want you to try this addon for Chrome, I think that the HTML5 player of YT takes up a butt load of your CPU and that is why yours is at a 100% during a video, and it doesn't help that you are watching 1080p60fps. The addon will force YT to use Flash instead of HTML5.

The addon definitely helps with the videos on Youtube! Its loading faster, and its using less CPU%, around 50-75% when watching the videos.

Still not able to play any video game on my PC though, high CPU usage when trying to play a game, huge loading times to just get to the main menu, and very low fps if it is even able to load the game.

Well I just noticed that in your system specs, you have listed that you have 12GB of RAM, now that is a bit unusual for desktops, do you have like a 2x4 + 1x4 setup or is it the same three sets of sticks?

If you have 1x4, I would recommend that you take it away and test a game.

Oh and if two sticks are the same make and model put them in slot #1 and #3 or #2 and #4, this will vary with motherboards. Some motherboards have colored slots for the ram sticks, so slot #1 and #3 will be one color.

This is of course just someone's fix on the internet, can't say that it will work but I still think it's worth a try at least.

I don't know if my RAM setup is 1x4 or 2x4, but I do have 4 RAM sticks, the 2 included with the computer when I first bought it, then a year or so ago I bought 2 more RAM sticks. They might be conflicting each other or something, I will try out both sets of RAM sticks, the new ones first, then the originals.

Do I need to boot the computer into safe mode when working with the RAM or just turn off the computer and unplug everything then just remove the RAM sticks and try it with the different pairs?

Do it like this to be sure:

1. Turn off your computer
2. On the power supply there should be a "1/0" switch, turn it to 0.
3. Wait a bit, maybe a minute to be sure.
4. Swap the memory
5. Do the "1/0" switch again.
6. Boot Windows 7.

Typing from my phone now so I'm sorry about any format problems.

I tried taking the RAM sticks out, my RAM slots were colored black and blue, with the colors touching eachother, 3 and 4 were black, 1 and 2 were blue, i guess cause they were the ones closer to the CPU. I don't know if the ram sticks should be in 1 and 3 or 2 and 4, or have the ram sticks match the color, 1 and 2, or 3 and 4. So I left the newer ones in 1 and 3 where they were originally and took out the older RAM sticks and when I turned the computer back on... it went to a screen saying "reboot and select proper boot device. Or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key." I tried again with both the RAM sticks in the blue slots and the same screen came back. Right now both are back in the 1 and 3 I think, there are no numbers on the slots.

I don't have any boot disc with win 7 or anything, don't remember if the PC came with one when I bought it but I have no clue where it is if it did come with one.

I really hope I didn't break my computer, I only removed the older RAM sticks. I went back and checked all the cables and they are all plugged in. I don't know anything about the boot menu that I saw on the HP start up screen right before that message above about the boot device appears. I have a picture of the screen with the above message, but the win7 forum says it can't upload the picture right now...

I hope I just did something dumb and simple to fix. I didn't try the old RAM sticks since this problem came up. My computer is just sitting on my desk right now. I feel so stupid right now.

Okay I just woke up and tried turning the computer on and it started up at the win 7 screen, it skipped the usual blue hp start up screen and went right to win 7 screen which didn't happen yesterday, where it got stuck on the blue hp screen then went to that boot screen... I have no clue what happened... and nothing seems to have changed/fixed, the problem seems to still be here, but luckily I was able to turn my computer back on and get it started.

Hi Boris. Sorry, the problem is still the same one that I've been having since the BSOD. My computer is running at high CPU usage just idling or doing simple tasks, and my computer still has problems with loading/running games and the low fps in games. Disabling the html 5 on Youtube/Twitch has helped watching videos/streams but the videos still use more CPU% than it used to.

Alright but what process takes up the most of the CPU during these random spikes if you call it that?

The two processes that are usually at the top of the processes list are the svchost.exe and the MsMpEng.exe, they are 150k and 100k right now, but I have seen one, I think svchost.exe go up to 400k memory used. And chrome is up there too, it's third right now on the list with just the win 7 forum website open.

Okay, msmpeng is the process for Windows Defender and there is a hotfix from M$ for the svchost eating up the RAM, you can give it a go, no promises though:

Yeah I can't seem to find anything else off. My RAM/GPU aren't having the issue with high usage like the CPU. Hmmm. It is very weird.

No noticeable change so far after downloading the chipset, but it did update them so I don't know how outdated they were. Just tried loading up Fallout 4 and the results were pretty much the same as before.
