Solved Purpose of Win 7 backup image?

After i installed 4.0, i checked for updates and updated to 4.0.1 from the AOMEI GUI.

I'm just learning about AOMEI now, i'm a newbie

I turned off the auto start service for the scheduler, i like to manually do my backups.

I also want to turn off auto start for the ABNotify.exe program.
Will i still get info/alerts/popups/messages when i do a manual backup/restore if this program doesn't auto start ?

I just found there is a 4.0.2 update available.
For me the free pro version does not offer updating to this version

David I also have the pro version. I went to the AOMEI home page and clicked on "Compare with other editions". (Just above the Buy Now button.) That opened another page with a comparison of the different editions. AB Standard provided a free download. it was 4.0.2 and updated my 4.0.1 without problem. I didn't see anything to indicate this was a trial version or good for a limited number of days.

Thanks for these suggestions, i'll try them when i have time to test this.

This has been a bad week for me with PT/MBAM/W10 and more ...
At least 1 person i personally help had her system changed from Windows to Linux by someone else.
I can now say to her like Hogans Heroes Shultz "I know nothing"

Just an fyi/followup post, i tried updating with the 4.0.2 free and pro downloads.
For me the 4.0.2 version would not install over the top of my 4.0.1 installed version.

It gave me a message it would uninstall the current version, but it would not continue/complete the "uninstall/update" if i clicked OK or Cancel.
I disabled all my real-time security stuff to see if that was blocking it - no difference for me.

I read the change log for 4.0.2, and i don't see where i need this version/update, so it's a non-issue for me.
I'll stay with the free/pro 4.0.1.
I tried this in on a Win 7 x64 OS.

Here's a snip of the first message and popup i see when i try to install 4.0.2 (if anyone's interested).

Not sure why you get that. The uninstall/install works fine for me.

What are all those things at bottom right in the system tray? If it's some kind of process explorer, that may be locking your existing version. Also, how come you have a black screen?

Yes, those are Sysinternals Process Explorer tray icons.
I exited Process Explorer and it didn't make any difference.
I just have a solid color black desktop.
I normally run everything from the taskbar. i don't usually run things from the desktop.
It's no big deal, i'll just stay with 4.0.1 for now.
