Solved No Icons, no taskbar nor Task Manager at all.

I am new member here and my English isn't that great, please forgive me
and also I am not expert on computer but know some. I just need your help. (please)

Okay...
Here's my problem:

I installed a new memory ram (6 gigs to 16 gigs) and it works very well
but... when I opened the computer... All I can see a wallpaper and my mouse, that's it.

No icons, no taskbar, not even menus or anything there. I tried to ALT + CTL + DEL for Task Manager but that screen is all black. Won't appear or anything.

Only working is Safe Mode (F8) with network. Everything is here like perfectly. Not the main. :/

Manufacturer: Acer
Model: Predator G5900
Processor: Intel(R) Core (TM) i7 CPU 870 @ 2.93 GHz
Memory (Ram): 6.00 GB (now 17 gigs, usage 16 gigs)

Video: AMD Radeon HD 5570
And my computer isn't that new (2011)

Is there anything you need to know?

With 17 GB of ram, it appears that their could be some mismatched ram.

Could you post exactly what ram you have installed?

Hello Layback Bear.

I'm still working on it by following on Brink's tutorial (Step 1 / 3 done. Doing on step 2 in a few cuz I'm on a mini break... Hope this step will be last) and check on this thread for any new reply. That's how I came here to check it out.

And should I fill it out right here? 17 gigs? Well I installed 16 gigs ram plus 1 ram (should I remove it? because I was reading other forum saying I should add 3rd chip to make it work but clearly they are wrong.)

Nothing works no matter by following your steps by steps.

When I opened the computer.. I noticed a black screen for a few seconds then load a window. That is the main problem then I see a wallpaper, a mouse and can able to click right mouse and can able to create a folder or delete a folder. That's it... so far. Is there another solution beside this one? I refused to reformat nor restore, don't want to lose my works. :/

According to Intel website, your computer max at 16 GB RAM

So, you need to remove the additional 1 GB RAM.

As for the spec

Acer Aspire G5900-U3092 Predator Specs - CNET

It is listed as 2 x 4 GB = 8 GB this is the original from the retailer, as most install less RAM.

For your info, normal RAM are slotted in pair with exact same RAM type.
It is not so good to install mixed RAM.
Try to remove any additional RAM from the computer.

Btw, how & what RAM did you insert.
Ex. 2 pcs x 8 GB RAM

Okay I will remove 1 ram card in a few. And I have two same ram type (2 x 8) is that ok?

I bought 2 Hyperx Kingston pieces (both 8 gigs). I installed them in the slots (4 slots)

I just unplugged one ram. Done. Had anti-virus scanned... just in case. System repaired all good but still same old problem... only during the start up... Windows logo... later *bam* all black for few seconds then wallpaper and a mouse. That's it. I swear something is wrong with after windows logo or/and before the wallpaper. I wonder what is it. I know Task Manager is not there (problem).

This problem of yours is not related to RAM.
If RAM failed, the system will not start.
I had tested this before, so not RAM fault.

Did you do anything after the last time you had shutdown.

Try not to go to Safe mode with internet, which maybe the internet issue, (unlikely), but as to troubleshoot.
Just Safe mode without any other options and remove the LAN cable, if any, and any other connection, if any.
This is to avoid external interference on the Windows starting.
Alternately -> Go to F8 Safe mode --> click on Last Known Good Config sometime like this.

Basic troubleshooting is to remove all external HDD, LAN, etc. that may also be the cause.

I am on Safe Mode with Network. (Thank goodness for that!)

Last time (before the shut down), I was installing a Flash Player. Do you think this one cause an issue? If so I could uninstall it and then get a fresh one because I heard the news about Flash Player had some virus or whatever. If you ever heard... or could be BS.

External HDD, Lan... Sorry, I don't quite understand or what are they mean? I'm not expert on computer... just little.

What i mean is that to remove all connections that can be removed, in order to avoid problem that are cause by the external connection.
As this is to say that run Safe Mode only without any internet connection &or other options.

On whether it is BS or not, do uninstall the Flash Player as a precaution.
After uninstall, then do restart and shutdown for at least twice, to see if the problem is due to Flash Player.
It is better to go to the Flash Player website, and this apply to any other software.
Most probably they could direct you to several servers that store the software ready for download.

It may be not an issue cuz it dated on Dec 12th. I think it should be ok.

Now let me try on safe mode without connection, etc... then what should I do next?

SOLVED!

I found out why! It was my monitor! I often hit (well every time.. top of my hand!) under the buttons that switched HDMI to DVI. No wonder!
