I'm mainly aiming at the driver update utilities, they could easily cause a lot of trouble.
Download all available drivers from Dell and install each driver, then you need to reboot again for the installation to finish.

Hmm well I think axe might agree the only sites to download drivers is either the Dell site or the individual component manufacturer site. You just need to go to the Dell site or Google the model machine you have then try to access the support section of Dell. Having said that I find the Dell site tedious and sometimes very difficult to get anything out of.

For individual components you need to find out just what is in that machine. For example if it was the audio driver then that would mean finding out the manufacturer of that device.

I use this to find the individual components that are actually in my machines because quite a few machine or boards will often list two or three manufacturers for example the audio, video or network chip/devices
Using HW Info
PART A:
You can test the volts on the PSU with HW Info HWiNFO, HWiNFO32/64 - Download < download the right bit version and close the right hand window select Sensors and scroll down to the power section where you will see what the volts are doing see my pic. In my pic the section (Nuvoton) with VBATT as a dead give away you are in the section for the rail voltages. There are other section titles and one that pops up often is ITE (sometimes the usual one for Gigabyte boards)
Now the voltage on the different rails have to be within 5% =+/- of what is required or the machine will not work properly if at all.
Limits +/- (minimum - correct - maximum)
12v1 = 11.4 - 12 - 12.6v
12v2 = 11.4 - 12- 12.6v
5v = 4.75 – 5 - 5.25v
3.3v = 3.135 – 3 – 3.465v
-12v = -10.80 - -12 - -13.20v
+5VSB = 4.75 – 5 - 5.25v
The Power good signal voltage at pin 8 on the 24 pin plug (grey cable) should be the same as the 5v rail reading/s

The original right hand window shows the machine running and is handy for that but for looking at the components in some detail close it and use the main left hand side panel

The most current version of HWInfo is haphazardly different from v4.26: there is a setting for sensors that says "Powers" are supposed to be of default display. I'm seeing Voltage for things like Battery and the Cores, but that's it. X(

Ok my bad missed being a laptop the HW Info only gives the battery status

Now I don't know where the version v4.26 comes from maybe it is the link I need to update as I am on version 5.20-2800. The program does have a slight flaw in that the offered update when you first open it never runs leaving one to install it again - again my mistake for not realising that and including it as the link although in theory the link should be to the latest version I shall have to go to their forum and ask about this.

Edit: I have just downloaded the latest version of HW Info if you want to use it - v5.44-3070
HWiNFO - Download and am awaiting reply for further info on laptop voltages.
However the choice is yours to use it or not I just have had no issues with it as checking voltages etc on my machines with a digital multimeter have yielded the same voltage results as this program. If nothing else at least you can find details on components in your machine.

If the voltages could point me toward which drivers to update, it could be useful, but updating the drivers could be a hassle, and I still have to find out how to use the program. Guru Axe, is there any other info you think you could spare me from all of the above information...?

I've discovered drmkpro64.sys : it's in windows\system32\drivers , but I can't delete it

I ran RKill, installed Malwarebytes again, still no luck. Installed Super Anti-Spyware and Malwarebytes on my other computer, copied the files; Still, no luck. I need a modern proverb, team. I'm running out of options...
How do you reset a Dell Inspiron M5040 to factory status...? I need this program gone.

Ok mate before you going doing that and if that is what you want then save all your data because with a factory default like a clean install it will all be gone when you do that.

I could be completely wrong too but that drmkpro64.sys may just be a Dell .exe of some sort because I cannot find any real reference to it in a Google, except a link to your thread and one in Tom's Hardware (it was for a Windows 10 system though) and one in the Spanish language.

When you go into the Windows/System32/drivers have you tried right clicking on that drmkpro64.sys and hit delete?

When I searched Google, only two other people had this issue. The only thing that solved the problem was System Restore, ironically. Didn't even have to rack a brain for that one I'm sorry for taking all of your time. I appreciate everyone's help, so much

No need to be sorry mate I think everything like this is a good learning curve for everyone to be on and yes sometimes it can be the simplest fix.

For example my main desktop lost the USB ports for months and it turned out to be that I had the Samsung Magician software on the machine and uninstalling that cured the issue. Another member saw my problem and knew straight away what it was. Left to me it would have taken a very long time to sort it out and who would have thought that that software was the problem

Anyway the restore has got rid of that drmkpro64.sys eh? I think maybe it was something that came with some software yu have installed perhaps as some downloads have those tick boxes for things like that awful Askbar and Google toolbar and so easily missed.

Now just for your info this will stop that happening and I have it on all of my machines Unchecky - Keeps your checkboxes clear

Rkill is meant to kill processes that are known to be malware processes, it doesn't do anything else.

If following the clean boot instructions properly, you prevent programs from running at startup.
This means that no Windows app is responsible, clean boot is used to identify what 3rd party program is causing issues.
In other words, programs that have been installed by someone (you or somebody else) are causing issues.
EDIT: misread it + was thinking about Windows 10

Yes mate there are many malwares out there and just about as many anti malware programs as well. It really does depend on how careful you are online and what AV you are using - I have used a paid for AV for the last six years and would not change it for anything else and I still use the free scans ie MBAM, SAS< and ADWCleaner as add ons if I am suspicious of anything.
The Superantispyware while it does not pick up that may actual malwares as such does get rid of Adwares which do clutter your machine up run a on a regular basis.

Just off topic you might like to try this if I have not mentioned it before Optimize Windows 7 I use this on all my machines but this is really off topic and your choice off course
