got rear ended yesterday

You're welcome, that's great to hear!

Mentioning poor trucks, my '03 Silverado's going in Tuesday for a look see on it's fuel lines, I had the brake lines done a few years back, it won't be cheap. :(

Thanks. The same day I had the accident, one of my rear brake/tail lights went out. Later that day, I replaced all the lights on the rear of the truck, figuring if one went out, the others wouldn't be

I just shelled out some serious shekels for new tires for my truck (I was on my way to the shop to get them when I had the accident). I also invested in a torque wrench, socket, and breaker bar to use for changing tires should I ever get a flat somewhere I can't get cell coverage to call for help (I pray that never happens since my handicaps would make that difficult to nearly impossible, even with the new tools) and a portable 12v air pump to pump up a tire. I just received an aftermarket TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) that will let me monitor tire pressure and temperature while underway (also, no more crawling under the truck to check the spare).

Later this Spring, I need to get my brakes, all the cooling system hoses, and the shocks and struts replaced.

It's too bad that in my area (Connecticut), all the older trucks are rusted so badly that they get junked.

I'd really like to buy a 1983 Toyota 4WD.

Nice truck, I've had my eye on a few Toyota's but it always seemed I gravitated to Chevy's. Look around you might be surprised, check those free car mags the local grocer and other stores may have near their exits, ours have a wire news-stand with a couple of versions in them.
Find one you like, go see it and if interested ask the seller if your local inspection mechanic can give it the once over and check it out, if the seller says okay you're halfway home, if s/he balks a bit you might want to steer clear. In PA we have to have yearly inspection and emission's testing I see in CT only the emissions is yearly, so I understand your rust concerns, maybe you can find one on a dealers lot?

p.s. Apologies Lady F. Havoc made me do it....

Ford didn't have an F-150 back in '61; the half tons were call F-100s. My Daddy had a '66 F-100 that was a sweet little truck. I later had a '62 F-300 crew cab. I was going to replace my current '08 F-150 Screw (Super Crew) with an F-250 Screw (more trailer towing capacity) but decided it was cheaper to keep her and spend part of that money on a stable full of SSDs.

Thank you for the kind words, you'll have to tell me who your health provider is so I can get mine done. :p

Well I gotta get out and do some chores and errands, the chore part is cleaning up after 'bout a 3.5" wet snowfall, Havoc's probably looking 'bout the same.
March 10 2017.JPG

Then Havoc and I have to get ready for Tuesday the 14th, It's a little far out, but here's the forecast as of today, I'm in the circle to the left, Tuesday 7AM the storm's on the Delmarva:
march14 storm.PNG

Here it reaches CT at 1pm Tuesday:

And the totals, 'bout a foot for me at 1pm Tuesday and 'bout the same for CT:

Murry belated Christmas! Make sure y'all have TP, bread, and milk. :p

Anak You do NOT want to use my health provider (I use the term health provider loosely), which is UHC, which they think is United Health Care but I'm convinced is Useless Health Care (sadly, I'm stuck with cheap persons of questionable parentage since they are part of my retirement plan). Every year, I have to fight the cheapskates over my Premarin prescription. This year, it took over two months to get it settled. This is also the year I'm going to file a complaint with the State Insurance board over their continual male bovine biscuits once I get the insurance claim on my accident settled (the insurance of the guy who sideswiped me is trying to weasel out of taking responsibility; I spent an hour on the phone with my insurance company over it today) and a few other "minor" issues I'm dealing with (such as the hole in the floor in my bathroom where the toilet is supposed to be).

Good luck with the snow. I prefer shoveling sunshine myself (there is a reason I live in a desert).

Didn't mean to ruffle your feathers Jeannie, I guess my wife got out in time, she had UHC during her cancer treatments, and as long as everything was up front and authorized she didn't have too bad a time, there were some calls that were close but UHC always came through.
The last few months her work switched over to Cigna, you want to talk about questioning everything? UHC was a breeze compared to Cigna. Ah... waking up to the smell of sausage gravy and bovine biscuits for breakfast, yum! :p

Show that other driver how you use a breaker bar that might get him to wise up. :zip: Winter's been kind to us so far this year so I guess one big one won't hurt, desert? make sure you check your boots in the morning, we don't need for you to get a scorpion sting and throw off your Premarin medication.

I can already hear customers calling in and cancelling their appointments. Fine with me, I still get paid.

I've been searching for a '83 Toyota, the only place that has any in good condition is the South West.

The only other choice I had for my medical insurance on my retirement plan (Medicare Supplement) was Cigna. My Mama had that and lost it when my sister had to move her and Daddy to TX when she had a bad fall that left her bedridden the rest of her life (I was out of commission with a blown knee at the time). I also wouldn't have been able to keep my doctors under Cigna (and I have one heckuva time finding good doctors so I didn't want to give up the ones I already had). Mama did get good care while still on Cigna.

Bovine biscuits for breakfast? :what: Ewww! There isn't enough sausage gravy in the whole world to make that palatable!

:roflmao: Except for the four years I lived in Abilene, TX while going to college (the longest decade of my life), I've lived in AZ since '56 and have had only one get into a home I lived in (almost stepped on the little bugger with my bare foot; it didn't take me long to grab something heavy to dispatch it with). On the other hand, I saw a lot more scorpions in homes, motel rooms, etc. while in TX. If I ever do get stung by one of the little buggers, it will be more than my Premarin medication that will be thrown off!

What? Get blood all over my brand new breaker bar? Besides, it's not like the guy did it on purpose.

Do you have to be at work or can you work from home? Me, I'm retired. Sou'West? and you live in the Nor'east eh?

$1900's not bad, was that for an hour? Remember the drill.

Lady F. I'm glad you took my replies in the spirit I offered them, with tongue firmly planted in cheek! :p

These health care co.'s, only what's good for them, it's nice your Mom made out okay.

I've stepped in and tossed a few cowpies in my day, my best was 42feet.

$1900 was for a couple hours in the OR, not sure if that includes X-rays.
