How to connect to network with 2 routers

So. I have a Netgear C7000 Modem/4 Port Router (awesome piece of equipment) set at 192.168.0.1. I have my computer connected using an ethernet cable to that device because I always have the modem on. I also have an Asus 8 port wireless router (Asus AC-RT3200) set at 192.168.1.1 which is connected to one of the four ports in the Netgear router. I have 4 Synology NAS drives attached to the Asus. The problem is that the computer when connected to the Netgear doesn't see the NAS drives on the Asus router which is daisy chained to one of the ports. I'd appreciate a couple of things.

1) Can you help me configure my system so that my PC connected to the Netgear modem/router will be able to see devices connected to the Asus router that is daisy chained?

2) Could you recommend a good resource to improve my understanding of networking, which might ultimately help understanding and dealing with issues like these?

I can connect to both routers when connected via the Asus - so downstream to the Internet works but not upstream, the Netgear to the Asus.

The 2 routers are in different subnets on the netgear set dhcp on on the second router disable dhcp and set its ip to 192.168.0.25 as long as router 2 is connected from a lan port on router 1 and a lan port on router 2 it will work the nas must be in the range 192.168.0.?? anything new using dhcp will get its ip from the netgear so it will all work

I tried to turn off DHCP and set the LAN IP to the above IP address but I get "WAN and LAN should have different IP addresses and subnet."

My settings say:

WAN IP: 192.168.0.16

LAN IP is 192.168.1.1
Subnet: 255.255.255.0

The LAN should be the IP you have set wan to. Wan can be anything make sure your cable is in LAN ports on both routers or it may pick up IP from DHCP

Thanks - so what you're saying is that I should remove the cable from the Asus' WAN port as is standard practice and I should plug it into one of the 8 LAN ports. I'll try that, although I thought by turning DHCP off on the router would solve it. OK... here goes...

Still doesn't work and now I'm locked out of the Asus router and can't get in. All the other devices connected to the Asus router seem to be assigned a 192.168.0.x IP address. But I still can't connect to them if the PC is connected to the Netgear Modem / Router.

I did an ipconfig / all and none of the IP addresses got me in, neither when I did an arp -a, which listed several IP addresses, none of which worked. Any ideas?

You goto the ip you set on the router as the lan ip you must be in the same ip range so you said it was set to
LAN IP is 192.168.1.1
Subnet: 255.255.255.0

so you need to set a static ip on the pc 192.168.1.21
