Tried everything know. I did a new install of W7 Home onto a new blank SSD on a Samsung RV510 Laptop. All went well until I tried connecting to the network. It looks like the wireless diver is missing. I connected my ethernet cable between the Laptop and BT router tried establishing a connection with that so I could download the driver but with the same result. Cant connect. What am I missing (apart from the driver)?

One way is to download the big version of SDI ( it is huge ) on another machine. Copy it to usb stick, then transfer it to the hd on the samsung rv510

Or you could download the small version of SDI on another machine and tell it to download anything that looks like net driver packs from its list. That will be a lot smaller

Download

Snappy Driver Installer Origin – The original driver installation tool for Windows.

Much easier: If you know the exact driver, you can d/l it directly on your desktop pc , then copy to usb stick and then plug the usb into samsung to transfer it.

Then unzip it, and use device manager to browse to the unzipped folder.

I think it is these for your machine: https://dl.driverpack.io/driverpack.../Qualcomm-FORCED-7x64-WiFi_10.0.0.355-drp.zip

For future reference:

a good way to search for drivers is to get the ID for the missing driver ( type msinfo32 into the start seach box , click it when it pops up. Then select components>problem devices which will list the ids )

ID looks something like this : PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_002B&SUBSYS_E025105B

then you can search for the id on the internet

Many thanks SIW2 that worked a treat. Probably got more drivers than I need but who cares. I'll save the txt of your post for future reference. Mucho Gracias.

you say new install

Is this a re-install or a start from scratch.

If re-install, get old hdd, and search the WIFI device driver from it. That will be much faster and more accurate.

That's a way I go often when re-install.

One step of prepare procedure before re-install is to export all drivers from old disk. as well as their info (by msinfo32.exe). modern computer has enough room. these files size less than 1GB. easy to save.
when re-install drivers, search the folder. all work can be done in 5-10 mins. meanwhile, keep your OS size small and clean.
(today one driver can be as large as 1/2 GB (like Video/Audio, blue-teeth, , ,), when you got 10 drivers installed. PC OS got 5GB bigger. :D
