Solved Solitaire and Hearts Icons Acting Strangely

My wife is a 'gamer' in that she plays Solitaire and Hearts a lot. About a week+ ago, both Desktop icons lost their icon images but the links still worked.

I Googled the problem and it seems fairly common. The 'fixes' I came across were long and convoluted, including Registry hacks and the like. So I tried my own simple fix: I made two new Desktop shortcuts to the games.

That has been working fine. But here's the weird part. I left the old icons on the Desktop and the correct icon images will sometimes come back, and most of the time they are missing. The new links' icons have not lost their images.

Any ideas on what's going on?

Thanks
.

Have you ever applied the "remove arrow from shortcuts" tweak? I remember once that something screwed up a few icons on my desktop and the reg file here fixed it.

Option Three - Step Four. No_Shortcut_Arrow.reg

But also need to rebuild icon cache.

Thanks Callender. No, never tweaked anything on her computer. It's a stock Dell 600 from Win 7 days of things. Things have been working just fine since I posted, so I'm calling this good.
