What virus/spyware program to get for 7 64?

What do you guys think is a top of the line virus/spyware program for 7 64?

Ideally I'd prefer a free one...

For free AVG i think would be one of the best,but i havent tried it on Win7 yet.

Dinesh, I would like your expert opinion. I have 3 licenses of Norton 2009 still unused (planned to install when I got all computers up and runnign 7) but I am now running MSE and I am pretty happy with it. I heard good things about NAV2009, in oposition to N360, which I have now and think slows everything down.
Should I stick to MSE? I think it is running just great.

I think I have a pretty good set-up.

I'm running windows 7 64bit.
I got: iobot360 pro + avg free+ turned windows defender on + glary utilities = profit???? yes.

Yeah sorry, i cant beleive i missed the bit about him needing 64bit as to my knowledge there are no supported 64bit sandboxes available. But my antivirus suggestions were OK lol.

There's one for 32 or 64 bit Vista/Win7. Pick the appropriate one.

It's a full AV, you don't really need other antispyware programs with it, but you can, just not recommended to have 2 AV's installed together. Malwarebytes is good for a manual scanner to have.

It doesn't expire. It's free.

MSE comes in both 64 and 32 bit flavors, the fact that you're worried about this probably means you're coming from XP? If you run 7 with UAC and MSE and aren't a complete moron you'll be very safe... no other software required...

Hi wally, sorry for the late reply. If you've got NAV09 license, you can use it with NIS 2010 which is the best paid anti virus out there. I m running NAV2010 on my girlfriend's PC. When I sometimes check the Security history(log), it shows that it has saved her PC many times. On the other hand, MSE just offers basic protection against virus and spyware. NAV2010 contains a lot more security features than MSE.

The below advice is only for expert users.

You can still run NAV2010 and MSE together on a same PC without any performance impacts. But as said by most geeks and n00bs, its not a good practice to run 2 AV on same pc. So even I would not recommend running 2 AV on same PC. Im just saying that they can play well together.

Back to your question, NAV2010 is also the best software in terms of detection, removal and resource usage. Definitely an ideal choice.

I m currently using Avast 5 beta and its running pretty well. I m sure, when Avast 5 will be out, it will kick out AVG and MSE.
