Cmd prompt for exFAT32 pls

Hi, i am getting a 0x80071ac3 err, and would like to start from the beginning by following same steps. fsutilities dirty query shows dirty volume labelled F. but cmd will not accept chkntfs /x m for the volume is exfat32. could you please go through the process with me again for formatting is the last thing i want to do with WD 4TB label.

Could be the Dirty Bit.

Sometimes when a drive is disconnected without safely removing a file becomes corrupted and Windows flags the drive as "unreliable" (so to speak) by setting a single hex value for the drive as "dirty". Thus "the dirty bit".

To check if this is so, open an elevated Command Prompt and then type " fsutil dirty query m: " (with m being the drive letter for the external drive. This will tell you if the drive is marked dirty.

If it is, then do this: open the Command Prompt and type: " CHKNTFS /X m: " . This will tell Windows NOT to check the drive on the next restart. Then manually restart the computer (keep the external connected).

You want to fix it without formatting?
Is it a USB external disk?

Why do you want to use eFat? Do you use it on Mac?

unfortunately it is windows 7x64 os not mac.
WesDigital is the external hdrive 4TB and it was preformatted to exfat32
if you could come up with any solution that would be great.

chkdsk is reporting error (see picture attached)

As you're not going to use on a MAC, my suggestion:
- Copy all your data to another disk.
- Open disk management and delete ALL partitions then create new (GPT) - format it as NTFS.
It will create a GPT disk formatted as NTFS.
Restore your data to it.
External disks are very fragile. Only place horizontally on a flat surface. Don't move it when connected (spinning).

MegaHz, thanks but should i wanted to do that, i would've already done it. the idea is not to migrate data as simply i have no time nor free data storage to move it to. there must be a solution to this issue other than formatting it.

Is it a USB external disk?

Why do you want to use eFat? Do you use it on Mac?

That is why I asked and you didn't reply.
