Hello,

After installing the latest September updates for Win 7 x64, I'm seeing a very ugly Search box at the top right corner of IE 11. In the past, the address bar used to cover the entire IE 11 top screen, now the address bar is reduced to almost half and I have a very ugly search bar in addition to this side by side.
I need a setting or even a registry key in order to hide/remove this search box.
Anybody else noticed the same??
Thank you.

Hey mates, :)

I haven't tested this in IE11, but you might see if it may help.

Internet Explorer Search Box - Add or Remove

I have tried the registry method as described, and this did not work. Chances are this update described here:

https://www.tenforums.com/windows-1...38788-windows-10-v1703-build-15063-608-a.html

"Updates to Internet Explorer 11’s navigation bar with search box."

causes some changes that require possibly new registry trick or another way to get rid of this search bar stuck now in upper right of IE11 win7 next to address bar....

Same here, it does not work.
Hmmm... well done Microsoft....
Hope someone here will provide soon a fix, probable a new registry tweak.

Cheers,

Yes I have noticed the Search Box has increased to about 1/3 or the way across.

The question is, is this really a problem as most internet addresses seldom take up the whole address bar.

Question is why are we forced to have this. I don't understand whats the reasoning behind having this crap glued into IE as a part of security patch...

I agree, I always manually install Cumulative Security updates for IE 11 and Security Only monthly updates both downloaded from MS Catalogue site.
I do not like this Search bar crap and it's certainly not a security improvement.
Hopefully someone will find a way to get rid of that permanently.
By the way, I have not yet updated my W 10 x64 systems and I wonder if this bar was also added in IE 11 under W 10.

Cheers,

Show tabs on a separate row is not the cause. The 'cause' is Microsoft's Sept 2017 updates.
Yours may be a temporary fix, but if you WANT the tabs on a separate row (as I do), then your 'fix' won't work.

Personally, I don't like now having the Refresh button in the middle of my bar either.

MS really needs to do another fix to allow users to either hide or show the search bar...as they did with the Edge button being shown or not.

Yes, I totally agree, I want the tabs on a separate row too BUT I'd like the Search bar to be gone.
So let's hope that Brink or anyone else here will discover a registry tweak... :geek: ...soon...

Cheers,
