Very carefully remove the screws from the four corners of the fan and gently remove it .. preferably after its cooled down.... ;)

LOL I knew this was you when I saw the thread.

You see the things on the side? Use a flat-head screw driver, push down on them and move them outwards at the same time. Don't break it though :)

Give me a second to get a picture of what I mean

Nickolay

there arre a few different methods. some have springloaded clips that need to be squeezed togeter. Some have screws. some other methods.

You might want to check the mobo web site and do a google for you mobo. Might help.

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful

Good Luck

Ken

lol, that's the one I'm having trouble with. I push down on it with a flat head screw driver and then move it forward and it's released?

@above, I will eventually replace the cpu, but I already know how to do that. :P

Sorry, I didn't look closely enough.

1. Remove the screws that are circled in red (view the image full size to see clearly).
2. Pull the switch circled in green, to face the opposite direction then it is now.
3. If it still doesn't come off then try removing the screws circled in blue.

I tried doing that but it didn't work and was scared that it would break. Do I need to apply force?

Depends on how much force. You are pulling it in the upwards direction right?

Yeah. Do I do the lever first and then the other thing?

Yeah. Do I do the lever first and then the other thing?

It shouldn't TRULY matter as the lever just releases the grip, and the screws don't even look like they are part of it, but I suggested them just incase.

You may need to apply a bit of force but if you think its going to break just stop, take a breather, then think of any possible way it could come off.

Trial and error my friend. :)

Pulling the lever will just remove the entire heatsink + fan.
Nikolay, is this an AMD based system, presumably with a stock AMD heatsink?

Good luck. :) Problem is there isn't really a standard on how to remove these, its up to the designer of the fan on how it goes on and off. :S

IF it can come off in the first place. I know on my stock AMD heatsink and fan I can remove some screws but the fan is on there tight.
