Solved How To Remove Unused Device from Device Manager PERMANENTLY Win7

Hi all,

i found out my intel centrino n-1030 card comes with the functions : wlan, bluetooth, and a less-used product called MyWiFi (turns pc into a separate hotspot adapter something like that). i have the proper drivers downloaded, during installation of the drivers, u can choose NOT to install MyWiFi Drivers, but whether you do so or not, the device obviously actually exists inside ur pc (ie. it is a function of this combo card), so it may still be recognized and appear in Device manager.

of course i mean other than physically removing the device. i still use the wlan and bt functions of my card. i just want to cosmetically have Microsoft Virtual Miniport Adapter #2 #3 (this corresponds to MyWiFi) not showing up in Device manager at all, every time i boot into windows it reappears. the device is functioning, even if just on MS generic drivers.

right-click uninstall in device manager does not do it away for good, i would like to know if there is a method to remove this device permanently in windows 7.

Hi I do not think you can delete from device manager permanently. In my opinion not going to hurt the performance of the computer leaving it their.

thanks for response. yes i know not hurting my system, just wondering if there is actual way to do this to unused but working objects in device maanger.

You'd have to disable the device in BIOS first, and then uninstall the driver file in Windows. That would likely mean you'd loose WiFi and Bluetooth as well; so get a new WiFI card that does not have the undesired hotspot adaptor.

Agree not happy get new one with just what you want.
