Solved SFC /SCANNOW Unable to Repair ...

Would you run the Windows Update? I don't see any files it couldn't repair.

Thank you wither 2 for reply. Everyday I get notified to install an update (most often for Microsoft Security Essentials) and I do it. Does this mean my machine automatically checks for Windows Update on a regular basis? Oh wait, you said 'run'. Is this different than cliking "Check for updates"? If so, how to do? Also, are the files SFC says it could not repair strictly WU-related?

System File Check looks for system corrupted files or missing files and looks for a backup (normally from C:\Windows\winsxs)

Win update mainly looks for OS and drivers updates. It doesn't fix damages on the OS.

The fist thing is to do a check disk to see if your disk is healthy.
If you're having freezing screens, programs that needs to close or even BSOD, best you can do is a repair install.
Repair install will reinstall Windows keeping your installed programs and your data.

You shouldn't be getting updates every day. As far as I know, Microsoft is only issuing updates once a month for Win 7. You might want to check to see if the update that you're getting frequently is the same one, i.e, it could be it's not installing.

As I mentioned, I don't see anywhere in the log file that it found a file that it couldn't fix.

By default, WU runs and check for updates every boot.
I have set WU:
- Under services to Manual.
- On WU page to never check.
I now install the Security only updates (released once a month)

thx Megahertz07 - as stated in the OP, no issues at all (none of the ones you mentioned either). Machine is 10 years old and quite healthy considering.

I don't see anything that is broken so there's nothing to fix.

By the way, it looks like they are updating MSE more frequently. My apologies. I also see that you can change how often it updates.
